In first grade we weren t very active because we didn!t know each other very well, although we do remember David Morse chasing a red head around the room quite a bit. In our next year Bill Mulder, Henry Yerdon, and Anna Kretser joined us. We now had fourteen in our class and Miss Emma Bishop-Tad her hands full. The third grade proved to be very interesting as it was a new experience for us. We now had two grades in one room all under the guidance of Mrs. Elizabeth Lehman. Every morning Mrs. Lehman would call, Harold Baldwin, Eddie Davis, Polly Diamond, Barbara Fasaett, John Mizerak, Billy Mulder, Mary Ottman, Sylvia Rury, llellie Spencer, James Swank, Peter Shulgay, Herbert Tennies, Beatrice 7 illiams, Henry Yerdon? To this everyone would usually answer present. At the mid year Sally Ann Frawley Joined us. Poor Mrs. Lehman was stuck with us again in the fourth grade. There were only ten of us so it wasn!t quite as hard on her. We all liked Mrs. Lehman very much and learned a lot even though it was necessary to discipline us quite often. We passed to the 5 th grade and Mrs. Cole. Six newcomers; Reg- inald Whiteman, Gerald KcFee, Ivan Barnes, Richard Garlock, Phyllis Y hiteman, and Rose Ann Gordon were added to the mischevious group of Eddie Davis, Johnnie Mizerak, Billy Mulder, Henry Yerdon, Polly Diamond, Barbara Fassett, Mary Ottman, Sylvia Rury, and llellie Spencer. It seems that more Ink was spilled that year than was used. If Barbie wasn!t falling asleep while Mrs. Cole v as reading. Rose Ann, llellie and Mary were cleaning up ink which one of the boys had spilled. In the 6th grade we began our acting career with Mrs. Veronica Reynolds. Polly eloped with Young Lochinvar in our great dra- matic production of this epic poem. Elmer Valdwin, Barbara Austin, and Gloria Corron added to the fun this year. In the 7th grade we were joined by Irene Tabor, Mary Country- man, Elizabeth Hubbell, Leland Layman, and Marie Camp. It was this year that Eddie, Billy, and Johnnie played ball with an orange. They missed a few times and left some evidence on the wall. Vle had a party that year. It was the last successful one we ever had. This year we were under the guidance of Mr. Frank Mathews and Miss Shirley Woodman. The 8th grade v as supposed to mean hard study. Miss Rourke, our advisor took us on a hike to Judd!s Falls. There was no mis- taking our adventure as proven by our many mosquito bites. This year we were joined by Ida Mae Baxter, Charles and Evelyn Byers, Lyman Jones, Spencer Brown, Emory Dornburg and Russell Prill. ! r' The Freshman and Sopnmore years meant good times for us. Our activities included a trip to Howe Caverns with Jane Dwyer, our advisor, and Mr. Edinger, and two very successful dances. The tnemes were The Harvest Hop and Football Hop . After gaining Paul Hoffman, Harold Funke, Tony Flint, and Bob Stiger we now had fourteen members in our class. After visiting friends and relatives many times, we disposed of the jello which netted us a good profit. Miss Genovesi and Miss Jones accompained us on a hay ride to Fort Plain which finished our activities for our sophmore year. Mrs. Gilbert joined our ranks and that was where her worries began. Paper drives were our main means of support and Vic dances added to our funds which were gradually building up. Our Rainbow Prom was a huge success after weeks of planning, arguing and deco- rating. We took over the candy sales after Easter vacation which meant more money, money for our treasury With Harold Funke as President, and Mrs. Gilbert as our ad- visor, we entered our 12th year with big ideas and equally big heads. More paper drives followed, and then we settled down to work on our Senior Play, Big As Life . It turned out to be a hit even though the whole cast had a slight case of hysterics thanks to Evan Wright. Our card party, the majority of wnich were seniors was not very successful. This year, we added Evan Wright, Mae Klimuszka ard Leland Laymon. It was necessary to work hard and diligently for our senior trip, which brougnt our school days to a successful close. 1 BARBARA DAYS GONE ROSE ANN CLASS PROPHECY As we look into the globe the mist Is beginning to rise, Beholdl We see the class of 1951 in ten years. There s Hal, He is the head of the Veternarian College at Cornell, Barb, married, living in Sharon, is helping her husband by teaching physical education in Sharon School, Nellie lives on a farm just outside of Richfield, managing, her home and five children, Russell is Head Chef at Lorenzo1s in Syracuse, His father and mother have moved to Syracuse to be near his work, Traveling through? Come and spend your nights at Marie’s Rest Home on the corner of Maple and Vine, Oh, yes, There is Johnny, the lawyer, trying to win Sylvia Van Warner-Snapper s divorce case. One of the clan has strayed to Chicago. Irene is working in Marshall Field’s accounting department. And there’s Tony, the greatest basketball player, playing at Madison Square Garden, Of course, Mary Alice is running a day nursery in Schenectady for the mothers, who work in the G. E, OH,OH there’s Rosey, the manager of the Sherman Tanks Inc, Mary C, is teaching Commerical Subjects in Albany Business College. Ida Mae is the wife of the man who holds the title, National Champion Brick Layer, the fastest in the world. The mist has fully risen and now the redhead and the diamond, are in full view. Polly is operating a nursing home for the aged in Cherry Valley. Sylvia is conducting the Community Band in Cherry Valley. Professor Wright of Syracuse University is giving a lecture on How To Get Along With Your Chemistry Experiments. Leland is head of the Laymon Daires Inc. He lives with his wife and three children in Roseboom N. Y. Who is that coming over the horizon? Why its Mrs. Gilbert and what do you suppose she’s asking? Who’s going to sell candy this noon? The globe is beginning to cloud over, but waitl What is this? A Winter Resort in Alaska, owned and run by Mae and her redheaded husband. At last our globe is completely dark. The class of '51 has faded back into the future. 51 HIT PARADE Ida Mas Baxter Maria Camo Mary Countryman Pollyanna Diamond Barbara Passatt Tony Flint Harold Punka Rosa.Ann Gordon Leland Laymon John Mizerak Mary Ottman Russell Prill Sylvia Rury Nellia Spencer Irene Tabor Evan Wright Mrs. Gilbert Class Song Good-bye Little Darling Good-bye One Has My Heart, The Other Has My Name Roses You've Got To Be A Football Hero They're Either Too Young Or Too Old Terrotation The Blonde Sailor Perh8os, Perhaos, Perhans Good-night, Irene A Million Kisses One Way To Say I Love You The Admiral's Daughter None But The Lonely Heart Let The Rest Of The World Go-by Five Foot Two, Eyes Of Blue OhI You Ugly Child Rheosody In Blue Till We Meet Again lounging ‘JOHN MVNTEftS v fc.; , ! £ £ BATHING BEAUTIES CAPOGA MA l£ HI___iUS '•1C AS LI •MUSHY 1 S CAff THIS «► THAT r 77 £ Loot LO + FLO •£M' OLO MAt OS MI(S A HMKf i ♦wwlt' 'HUNNIS' OMIl UJHAr ? They forfeited their game to us and automatically put us in the quarter finals of the Oneida Area Section 3 Tournament. Our next game was with Springfield High. We traded wins in the first two games this year, but we took the third, 65-lj.6. This game also was the Class D Championship of the Cherry Valley League. This win advanced us to the semi-finals which were played at Colgate University. Our opponent was Waterville High, who went down to defeat in a last period drive that netted us 22 points, 57-37. This put us in the finals with Hamilton High where- we lost by a score of 71-i;7. The team brought two trophies to the school this year, one for the wlass D Championship and one for the runner-ups in the Section 3 Tournament to give C. V. C.
