.M.w-www . Strange halls and strange teachers crowded your reality and your spirit at first. You felt muf- fled and alone. Perhaps you chose a club be- cause another brother or sister once belonged. You saw their name and interests listed under DIRECTORY in a purple and white yearbook on the shelf. It looked impressive. Possibly you joined because of a friend or because you felt it was where your interest might lie. But you were always planning for next year. Survey courses in literature were preparation for English II,IlI, or IV. Teachers sometimes excused your behavior because you were still freshmenp you had much to learn. Yet from that molding, shaping, and weaving came a fresh spirit, a blossoming of your intellect as well as your self-esteem. The Spirit of 76 was becoming more than a clever phrase.
