The hectic pace at West is broken once a year for 48 hours of sparkling tradition. The purple robe is carefully removed from storage and another Indian is stuffed and hung. Wood is gathered and the bonfire is built on the fresh grass of Senior Hill. George Michaels promises to come again to auction off girls and lunches while the band practices their Thanksgiv- ing Prayer. Teachers who have classes on Wednesday wisely bring studies to a close on Tuesday. The football players being escorted to their seats walked more proudly than in recent years, respond- ing to the raucous excitement in the crowd. Linda Morgan was crowned-a queen of traditional beauty-under the chauvinistic gape of all the males in the audience. Then the gym was cleared for the auction and girls who had waited three years sat clutching brown bags and blankets. A lunch, a girl and a record-a bargain? Not for some! Beth Dunlap brought a record-breaking S30. Outside in the sun- shine girls shocked their guys in a rough 'n tough pigskin skirmish. Gee, I didn't know she could run that fast! In the midst of the high spirited chaos some even caught the ball. Meanwhile, males in mini-skirts kicked hairy legs and bounced balloons fmen's lib??j as the crowd roared. Then darkness fell and Senior Hill exploded.
