We see the darkening skies, dying rivers and disappearing forests. We live with insecticide vegetables and no-deposit, no-return life. We know that these things do not pass away with time, that they will persist until man ceases to exploit his domain. SCEC has existed since April, 1970. Have you seen the posters, projects, and assemblies? Have you heard of cleaner streams, arboretums, and bricks in Cherry Hill tanks? Concern grows. Their involvement has not faded with the flow of years. SCEC survives and will struggle QThursdays at 2:45Q until man and his world are one, and they are no longer needed. activities 141

Now, burdened, the bough bends and sighs. I wonder if the fragile branch will break. Resting my pack against a snow cushioned rock, I feel the pain in my shoulders slip away. Bending, I slide open fingers beneath the silent snow. There is a part of the human spirit that rebels when forced into the confines of our structured world. Where exis- tence is cramped the mind begins smothering slowly. We have found places where there are no walls. How much do we really need to survive?
