Oktoberfest 1986 .. 1 Whether you were shooting basketballs, racing on scooters, sampling food, or just socializing, Oktober- fest 1986-87 at Cherry Creek was the place to be. The great weather and interesting events attracted more than 1000 people to the festival. And with over 28 clubs participating, there was a wide variety of booths with something for everyone, SADD spon- sored a Car-Bash, which gave carnival-goers the chance to demolish automobiles with sledgeham- mers. The Senior Class booth challenged students to climb Jacob's ladder, while Fine Print offered scooter races, Other events included marriage, jail and dunking booths, as well as basketball shoots and baseball throws. Oktoberfest originates in Municii, Germany, where on October 17, 1810, King Maxmil- lian I threw an enormous bash to honor the mar- riage of his son, Ludwig I, to a Saxon princess. Today in Germany, Oktoberfest marks a 16-day celebra- tion of feasting and beer drinking. While traditional German fare includes roasted knuckles of pork, oxen, and bratwurst, Creekers savored pizza, burri- tos, egg rolls, and Dove Bars. KCRK helped set the mood for the evening with recordings of German music. Overall. Oktoberfest was a smash success, offering fun, food, and a great time for everyone. l l 'Inf 4'-s.
