It had fi- nally arrived after weeks of anticipa- tion. The members of Excalibur had managed to transform an ordinary school gym into a party. Everyone looked their best, and there was a whirl of motion and an exchange of introductions and compliments. As the band played and the couples danced, a fantastic weekend came to an end. It was to remain, however, in their hearts and in their memo- ries.

Homecoming 1987 1987 Homecoming Queen Stephanie Polk, with King Tom lseman Attendant Scott Sjo- berg, escort, Mrs. Sjo- berg 1986 Queen Kim Goodson, escort Henry Cotton This year's Homecoming theme, Catch a Wave, was a motif for the festive weekend. Thousands of balloons filled the air announcing the beginning of the Homecoming Game against Heritage. The stadium roared with fans clapping, cheering, and vigorously waving their red pom poms. Back and forth a wave flowed through the stands, a current of electricity seemed to link the crowd and the cheerleaders together as they urged the Bruins on to a glori- ' ous 39-O win. The excitement didn't die out as the football players ran off the field at half-timeg if anything, it increased. The field was ablaze with the color and sparkle of the Cherry Creek Band and the Flags, as well as, the perfectly coordinated motions of the Pom Pons. A hush fell over the crowd asthe Homecoming King and Queen candidates were escorted onto the field and introduced. Everyone waited in anticipation, because all of the candidates were escorted onto the field and introduced. Everyone waited in anticipation, because all of the candi- dates were worthy of the honor. Stacie Summerhill, Tracy Buchannan, Kerry Petrovich, Amy Pozelnik and Stephanie Polk were as both elegant and beautiful. David Fulton, Ben Caplan, Scott Sjoberg, Alan Wittman and Tom lseman, were all handsome and smiling. Yet, as Stephanie Polk and Tom lseman were all chosen to have the honor of King and Queen, an echo of applause sounded through the Stutler Bowl. Stephanie's blue eyes shone, expressing both excitment, and modesty, as Mr. Cotton crowned her. Tom's ruddy good looks caught the camera's flashes as Kim Goodson, last-year's Homecoming Queen, crowned him. Stephanie and Tom, a great-looking pair, greeted the crowds of clapping and cheer- ing spectators. Oktoberfest 1986 .. 1 Whether you were shooting basketballs, racing on scooters, sampling food, or just socializing, Oktober- fest 1986-87 at Cherry Creek was the place to be. The great weather and interesting events attracted more than 1000 people to the festival. And with over 28 clubs participating, there was a wide variety of booths with something for everyone, SADD spon- sored a Car-Bash, which gave carnival-goers the chance to demolish automobiles with sledgeham- mers. The Senior Class booth challenged students to climb Jacob's ladder, while Fine Print offered scooter races, Other events included marriage, jail and dunking booths, as well as basketball shoots and baseball throws. Oktoberfest originates in Municii, Germany, where on October 17, 1810, King Maxmil- lian I threw an enormous bash to honor the mar- riage of his son, Ludwig I, to a Saxon princess. Today in Germany, Oktoberfest marks a 16-day celebra- tion of feasting and beer drinking. While traditional German fare includes roasted knuckles of pork, oxen, and bratwurst, Creekers savored pizza, burri- tos, egg rolls, and Dove Bars. KCRK helped set the mood for the evening with recordings of German music. Overall. Oktoberfest was a smash success, offering fun, food, and a great time for everyone. l l 'Inf 4'-s.
