I V ,' at-sg ln February of 1949 a new organization The National Honor Society was introduced in Chenoa High School The members of this organization are selected because of their Character Leadership Scholarship and Service four very worth while attributes. This year's officers included Kenneth Stalter presi- dent: Mary Seeman vice-president' Ruth Mitchell secretary' and Phyllis Wendling treasurer. The committee for the selection of new members consisted of Mary Alice Kridner Vauna May and Wayne Dameron. The committee for ordering pins consisted of Janet Hewitt, Jeannine Rhoda, and Carolyn Taylor. New members which were accepted into the society this year are: Roger Ehrhardt, Bill Asper, Diane Wagner and Jo Ann Maurer. The band also presented a program at the Music Demonstration class 'or the parents of those interested in band. At the end of the year the band marched in the Memorial Day Parade which extended to the Chenoa Cemetery where respects were paid to the Grave of the Unknown Soldier. The work of the FHA began early ln August A Program of Work was planned by Janet Hewltt and her commlttee of M Seeman C Spence and K Asper The comm1ttee planned a specxal actlvlty for each month of the school year also makmg plans for a regular FHA meet1ng to be held tWlCC a month at noons The plans ofthe year's work was made out and the programs were glven to the members at the second meet1ng of the year The Theme for the year was 'THE BUSY BEES ARE BUZZING ' To become acquamted wlth each other the FHA and FFA held a3o1nt party durlng the month of September The party was held at D M1ller's home and games and refreshments were served under the d1rect1on of Mr Walker and M1ss Redlng Durlng the month of Nov the glrls celebrated Natlonal FHA week Wh1Ch was from N v 4 10 The project of the week was the mstallatlon of the off1cers from the Pont1ac Chapter We also held a Bazzar and Bake Sale wh1ch was a huge success At the October meet1ng all the g1rls brought old clothmg and mlscellaneous xtems to be sent overseas The lnternatlonal Good Wlll Commlttee Checked over the ltems and prepared them for ma1lmg The commlttee was M Hlggms S Bounds K Asper and B Rasmus Y' will -1 - -h 44 In December the members entertamed the Mothers at a tea after school Trad1t1ona1 Chrxstmas muslc was played and short program was presented Gettmg off to a good start 1n January the new members were 1n1t1ated and the g1rls recelved the degrees Th1s year we had 14 new members 10 g1rls earned the Jun1or Home maker Degl ee 7 g1rls earned the Chapter Homemaker Degree and Corky Kr1dner re ce1ved the State Homemaker Degree Th1s IS the ftrst and only one 1n our Chapter At the same serv1ce the flrls bestowed the Honorary Membersh1p to the Chapter Mother Mrs V Gentes Also the gxrls presented Mlss Redmg w1th an Advlsors' pm and guard The remamder of the year was spent ln carrymg out the followmg progects a Daddy Date N1ght' an exh1b1t1on of the year's work aJo1nt party wlth the FFA and FHA an all school party and a square dance Welcommg the prospect1ve members b1dd1ng the Sen1ors farewell and last of all the tr1p at the close of the year The FHA Chapter of Chenoa has completed a very successful year and look1ng forward to next year wlth enthustasm Also mcluded ln our year's act1v1t1es was the Sect1on 17 House of Delegates meet1ng and the Sprmg Rally whtch were both conducted by our Parl1amentar1an Corky Krtdner We are qulte proud of the ache1vements wh1ch we have made 1n SeCt1On act1v1t1es ' ' ' I ' p n n I I 1 t D l 1 1 . Allis well until Miss Blayne and Aunt Mary decide that Mr. Moore has been causing all of Betty Lou's trouble.
