MASS PRUPHHIY STATE POLICE CALLED TO QUELL RIOT AT CLASS REUNION Cheney, Wash. , July 4, 1064 KAP,--Cheney residents were interested spectators at the climax of a feud which has recently made headlines from New York to Hollywood. Two squads of State Police, led by Chief GERALD KELSO and his assistant, GEORGE SCHMIEDEHAUSEN, were called out yesterday to put down a riot which resulted when GARRY CARMAN, film actor suspended by his studio for walking out on a picture when he found that Miss VIRGINIA BURNS Qmuch-wedded calendar model, had been hired to play opposite him and given star billing, chased Miss Burns through the park with a 1952 convertible. TOM DELYS, Miss Burns' current fiance was highly in- dignant and after finishing his lunch began to rearrange the famous Carmen profile. Delys was booked for assault and battery and when Carman is re- leased from the hospital he will be charged with dangerous driving and dest- roying museum property. The convertible was a relic belonging to the CLYDE STANEK Historical Museum of Cheney. Other picnickers joining in the fight and booked on charges of disturbing the peace were: ROBERT tShysterj HAMPTON, recently disbarred criminal lawyer, and LARRY BROWN, foreman of the jury which freed his last client, LYLA STUM- BOUGH, who was charged with homicide, were stopped by police as they tried to force a book on criminal law down the throat of,LARRY BLACK, head of the State Bar Association. CAROL BARNES, who does voice characterizations for the MYR.A TILLEY fformerly the Walt Disneyj Studios, amused the arresting officers with her imitation of a wounded duck. She was accompanied by BOB MERRILL who played Hot Pretzels on the Calliope, and ELLEN HOLMES rendering Home Sweet Holmes on the musical chain saw. Mrs. Holmes is associated with the Spokane Rendering Company. RONNIE tKid Glovesj GAUSTAD, dance instructor at JOE TRABAND'S School of Ballet and Toe Dancing, and his employer called in several professional bond- smen to arrange for the release of themselves and their ballet troup, due in Mos- cow the next day to show the Russian Ballet how Loon Lake should be performed. Members of the Ballet who were released were: ROY fTwinkletoesj RIDDLE, RON fNijinskij JONES and set designer DENNIS BROOKS. - A man identified by personal papers as ARVIN CRAWFORD, tester for Beauty- rest Mattresses, was carried slumbering from the scene and has not yet awakened to make a statement. Professors TED GETTIG and BUD NELSON, instructors in Grecian History and Literature at Vassar, were booked on additional charges of vile language by one of the officers who understood Greek. The old team of DICK BERGLOFF and JOHN HERRIMAN, who are now run- ning the Tyler Escort Bureau, were charged with attempted bribery when they offered free dates to the arresting officers, in exchange for their freedom. RON QBicepsJ and LOIS fTriceps, MCKINLEY, world champion wrestling team, were subdued by eleven officers after a. terrific struggle. NORMAN SKJOTHAUG, manufacturer of Goop , the bubble gum with the self- sealing bubble, was arrested along with his chief tester, BRUCE Uawsj EMERT.
