Not Shown- Hizuax Eiiiim SkjoTH.-xt't3 lt was the fall of 1947, when a group of gay little Sophomores invaded the halls of Good Old C.H.S. We climbed into the saddle by successfully supporting our candidates for cheer leaders, Pat Elmore and Jeannine Shepard. With this success behind us, we made a bid for our Carnival King and Queen candidates, Joan Thill and Leonard Hauge, but to no avail. We then showed our authority by putting up a sticker candidate for May Queen, Betty Arnes, and getting her elected. Our last attempt at fame was our first dance, The Hobo Hop, accentuated by vnooden tramps placed all around the gym Our Junior year went over especially big with one success after another Our cheer leaders Pat and Jeannine were again chosen to represent us Our dance the Witches Wobble vas well received with Hallovfe en spirit We von our place in the Carnival by having our can didates Pat Elmore and Don Hatch elected as King and Queen The biggest event of the year was our Junior Prom April Shovs ers The Senior year vias an exciting year for the upperclassmen ffmallyj Pat and Jeannine were elected as cheer leaders for their third year Our candidates for the Carnival King and Queen were Bob Franklin and Darlene Bennett Our first dance of the year was a Juke Box Dance held after the first football game We then became ambitious and sold hot dogs coffee pop and candy at the games The Senior Play Two Gentlemen and Verona delightful comedy was held March I6 and I7 Our final dance 'was the Levi Leap which was very informal A final check on grades placed Annetta Tallyn as valedrctorian and Edgar Grogan as salutatorran And so vue leave the halls of Good Old C H S a weary but happy group who started out as gay little Sophomores First Semester Annetta Tallyn Edgar Grogan Merrill Thompson Pat Elmore Ad 1 non George Clark Pat Fleming Mary Lee Melville Lois Johnson Adr 1107! It was the day of the annual Cheney High Carnival. Hard work turned to success and a gross of approximately S1325 netted 3850. ' This year's Carnival was under the expert management of Ianet Manor with Annetta Tallyn as business manager. Mr. Crabb was the obliging and helpful a visor. The program, under the capable direction of Leone Webber and Mr. Reamer, started the evening off as a gala affair. The crowning of the King, Wayne johnson, and Queen, Helen johnson, Sophomore candidates, was the main event. The Carnival Court consisted of Bob Franklin and Darlene Bennett, Seniors, and Melvin Schmidt and Anne Adamson, juniors. Much time was spent on decorations for the gym. The Palleteers won the prize for the best decorated booth with Ring the Peg, and the Seniors took second with Colorette. Many new concessions were added, one being the Rocket Ride for kiddies, which was a isu ffess .
