This group, during its whole high school career, was active in many lines of endeavor. Many members were particularly outstanding during their senior year. Dramatics had a good representation, as several seniors were in the all-school play, Guess Again, and the class put on the play, Spring Fever, in May. Frank Roach won high honors in agriculture, placing first in the National Livestock J udginfy contest which was held in Kansas City. Don Curtis was also a delegate to this convention. Seniors who represented their class at the Student Leader confer- ence at Pullman were Bert Llewellyn and Billie DeLong. Bill Bryan and Ernestine McMillan were delegates in their junior year. The senior English classes entered the Tuberculosis Essay contest. Betty Mickey's address was awarded second prize. Three class members won first place in the District Music Meet held in Cheney. The winners were: Barbara Stnonach, Glen Conley and Josephine Carey. Betty Mickey was accompanist. All the athletic teams had a strong delegation of seniors as mem- bers. Many were outstanding in football, basketball, tennis, track and baseball and contributed much to the success of these teams. Mary Alice Priest was elected Carnival Queen over the entries from the other two classes. Ernestine McMillan was sent to the Student Day held by the Spo- kane Chronicle and was given the position of reporter of news from this locality. She, Ellanor Smith and Beulah Gober were delegates to the John W. Graham's Mimeograph School held for the school students from all surrounding schools. The class was also very active in such things as the carnival, play days, home economics' conventions, exchange assembly programs and other projects sponsored by the school. Besides the addresses of the valedictorian and salutatorian, Margaret Murray, Ernestine McMillan, Jerry Randall and Bert Llewellyn were also speakers on the commencement program. The class of '38 has achieved much during their year in Cheney high school. May their successes continue as great in the years to come.
