Warrior team conquered the two big names in STAC football, Vestal and Maine-Endwell. Chris Oswald, who led the STAC in passing, combined his kicking, running, and passing skills to drive C.V. to a 27-26 victory over Vestal, its first in history. Then to end the season on a win¬ ning note, the mighty Warriors defeated M.E. 8-6 bringing their season ' s record to 5-4. The team ended with a winning season for the second year under the fine coaching of John Paske (left). C.V. had many outstanding players this year. Seniors Chris Oswald, Rick Aiken, Dave Stroka, and junior Andy Bobik were named to first team All-STAC. Junior Rob Nearing was named to the second team and senior Mike Nolan received honorable mention. Chris Oswald, because of his excellent performance in the Vestal game, was awarded the Sun-Bulletin Athlete of the Week. Oswald’s favorite receiver, Rick Aiken, placed second in STAC receptions. Dave Stroka, Andy Bobik, and Mike Nolan led the powerful defense to a fantastic year while the two Nearing brothers, Bill and Rob, helped lead the team offensively. The J.V. team, although having a 1-8 record, showed great promise for the future. Coaches Marble and Andre continue to improve their team’s skills and have prepared them to play varsity football. nineteen
