Will we ever forget these days. Good and bad, gay and gloomy, how many of the things happening to us each day will we recall in the years to come? More of them than we realize. Walking about the Ship, many things we pass go apparently unnoticed, but many of them will be printed in our subconscious minds to be recalled just the same. The words that are passed punctuating 'our lives with staccato briefness, the bellowing of the bullhorii, the pleasant brassiness of the orchestra, the people we know, the friends we've made--these are thc things we'll remember. Will you remember the bleary, red eyes that mark the men who had the mid-watch the night before which become even redder when morning GQs are routine? . . . The morn- ing the Bos'nsmate blew until he was blueyin the- face with- out making a sound, only to leam later that when he stirred his hot coffee with his pipe that morning, the wax in it had melted and sealed the opening .... The battery ofiicer's reprimand: Can't you ever remember to turn on that sight before cocking the gun? . . . The hangar deck officers frantically calling the bridge, seemingly continually, to have the word passed for one or more of the hordes of men who work under them and who seem to wanderlust more than all the rest of the crew combined .... 2-K, V-4, and 5 Divisions report to the Bos'nmate on Watch . And the next time we're in the Navy Yard they're going to air condition the living compartments. They ARE, tool My brother has a friend, who works in the office of the Captain of the Yard, and he wrote him that he saw the job order on the Captain's desk with the approval stamp already on it. . . .
