After graduation from the Naval Academy at Annapolis with the class of '23 he spent two years aboard the Battleship MISSISSIPPI in the gunnery department and three years as First Lieutenant, Communications and Gunnery officer on the Destroyer 1-'Am-:NHo1:r. - , ' Q , Captin Felt went to Pensacola to get his wings in 1928 and while there, on August 3, 1929, he was married. Mrs. Felt and their fourteen year old son' now live in Coronado, Calif. - After two years in a scouting squadron on the LEX he returned to Pen' sacola for a two-year tour as Flight instructor. And for the ensuing ten years, afloat and ashore, he rounded out- his experience as a Naval Aviator. He served in succession aboard the Cruiser HOUSTON, with a V5 squadron at San Diego, a VB squadron on the old LEXIXCTON and during the early phases of the war,'as Air Group Commander and ,then Air Ofiicer on the sAnA'rocA. . , , ' ' During 1943 he served ashore as commanding ofiicer of the NAVAL All! STATIONS at Daytona and then at Miami. A ten-month tour with our,Military Mission to Russia preceded his reporting, on'April 8, to yss CH ENANGO whose CO he became on May 2, 1945.
