T AG E lVIan's innate desire to comprehend his enviromnent gives rise to the interlocking disciplines of education and drama. Education effects the reconstruction of the observable, and drama effects the communication of the verbally inexpressible. In both areas an enlarged perspective is achieved by creating an experience which transcends the surface of life. The dramatist aims to draw his audience into a revealing experience by creative manipulation of audio-visual techniques. Educators instill in their students the perspective of history, the sensitive insight of literature, the logic of math, and the order of science, as tools to break the barriers of the commonplace. Fundamental to the success of each approach is the recipient's capacity to absorb the wealth being offered, the primary goal therefore, of the institutions of drama and education, is'to precipitate a state of readiness for a significant discovery. From the pensive atmosphere of a philosophical discussion to the light-hearted htunor of a musical come-dy, the phenomenon of mood represents this condition of receptiveness Deliberately staged or arising spontaneously from the interaction of men, the presence of the appropriate mood opens the path to a fulfilling exchange. In essence, the school and the theater are man's release from the limitations of his senses.
