Panther The approach of spring was accompanied by a hum of activity in Room 215 as contributions to Cheltenham student literary publication, The Panther, began to ac- cumulate. Sponsored by Mr. Albert E. Weston, the maga- zine is largely a product of Creative Writing Club. All material for the Panther is original work of CHS stu- dents. Forensic Society This year the Forensic So- ciety placed high in the an- nual debates at the University of Pennsylvania. Weekly meetings with sponsor, Mr. George Stabley, and monthly discussions with teams from neighboring high schools pre- pared our team to compete in Cheltenham's Extemporane- ous Speaking and Declama- tion contests. Tutoring proved to be the group's main activity closely followed by a party for the faculty, group discussions, and lectures. Thirty-three students elected to the Honor Society for their excellence in leadership, scholarship, character, and serv- ice chose as their officers Robert Klein, Barbara Freed, Elaine Hoenig, and Jelifrey Hertzfeld. In the spring, twenty-five new members were welcomed into the Society. They were Beinstein, Blake, Bradburd, Carson, Cassel, Egendort, Eskin, Fella, Golden, Goodman, Jacobs, Katin, Kahle, Kulick, Lindabury, Merriam, Mitchell, O'Gorman, M. Risen, Siegel, Smiley, Spain, Spark, and Spector.
