Dr, Ashby has made an excellent beginning at Cheltenham and has already won the respect and esteem at the students. Acting as administrative assistants to the Principal are Mr. F Robert Samuels, Mr. Al- bert E Weston, and Mr, Wilbur B. Lehman. Mr. Samuels is in charge of rosters and exam- ination schedules, Mr Weston's work includes revising the curriculum from year to year, and Mr. Lehman is the disciplinarian ot the school, Dr, Lois M. Gould, guidance counselor ot the high school, keeps in touch with the schoe lastic progress of all students and assists them in making college and vocational choices. In addition, Dr. Gould also offers her competent services outside ot the school as a consultant in counselor training and as Vice President ofthe Vocational Guidance Associa- tion. On the second Tuesday ot every month the if NZM U WW' CDZCJCD CJ CDCDC-3 EDCI CDC XWMMF Flf lfi lf W Cheltenham Township School Board may be CIBC f O . , L.j X Z 4 found diligently at work. 7 Elected at large tor a term of six years the board is composed ot the following mem bers: Mr. Richard C. Kelly, President, Mr William M. l-louldin, Vice President, Mr George L. Lambert, Treasurer, Mr. Francis Markley, Secretary, Dr. Roland J. Christy, Mr. William B. Yoder, and Mrs. Frances Feaster. At present, one of the outstanding problems confronting the school board is the 5896 in- crease in elementary school enrollment. To- ward this end, a new elementary school is now under construction in the Lynnewood Gardens section, and plans are being formulated for another school to be built in Rowland Park. To these members, who unseltishly contrib- ute their time, goes much of the credit for our excellent school system, Dr. Frank C. Ketler, Superintendent of Chel- tenham Township Schools, works in close con- junction with the board, smoothing out diffi- culties and suggesting new ideas. ll I l A Q o 0 ' - Llro Q, Mrffodevj Mr5.Feo.-s+e,v,Ykv YXo0-Xaxn-4 Y Nr Lamloev+,Mr.VXlllex, Dr xLfL+l8.V lu ? f ff , f - ff . The club then agreed that the class wanted to do something for the school before they became seniors, They selected a project, and in January, Harriet Swoyer presented a large flag ofthe United Nations to the school. During the second semester the Juniors or- ganized a Mr. Mystery Contest for charitable purposes. With ballots, posters, assorted prizes, and cleverly rhymed hints by Dick Levinson and Bill Link,.they really proved their worthiness. Under the ex- cellent direction of Mr, William Clair Hower, the songsters were heard at many functions throughout the com- munity. On Sunday, December l7, the chorus presented in the CHS audito- rium, the annual Christmas Cantata and Carol Sing. This year they pre- sented The Babe of Bethlehem. Among the soloists were Alexandra Jablow, Marie Minio, John Waldis, Roger Abrahams, Nancy Mclntyre, and Betsy Newhart, They also sang various Christmas carols at Straw- bridge and Clothier's Old York Road Store. On April l7, they gave the Spring Music Festival. The Chorus this year was fortunate in having a sufficient number of voices in all registers, thus giving a good balance to their renditions.
