0 is ron odyssey, Mr. Lewis, Don Carreras and Myron Hewski, the three largely responsible for this year's issue of The Chelsean, hold a private conference. Mr. Lewis is a ubiquitous teacher. He is in charge at the yearbook, and much of his spare time is devoted to it. Last year our Chelsean won first prize in the Columbia University Scholastic Press competition. Laughlin, chairman of our English Department, is also a Doctor of Philosophy, poet, and author. He has written over a score of poems. His most recent work, Pity the Poor Weatherman, has been dis- tributed to English honor classes as additional reading material. With two others he has written an English textbook, Thought and Expression, which is used in many schools in the United States and abroad. Mr. Gottlieb listens attentively and answers any question he may have. ln this issue the atom is up for examination. W- l i 41 48 R ,tic yn Albert De Nunzio Cleft listens to Mr. Mackenzie as he teaches the theory ot paint making and the different materials needed in this process. The formula on the blackboard is one of many formulas taught to the students. Electronics, the theory behind one of the trades taught at Chelsea, is explained by Mr. Wertheimer to the Juniors. He explains that centain substances, when made active by friction, attract other substances, thus creating a form of energy. ,.
