ENGL Jacqueline Gagnon Daniel Allen Carol Cantor Michael Karp The English Department at Chelsea High is trying to do what similar departments all over the country are attempting - we want to send our students off into the world at the end of their senior year with an ability to communicate well, to listen with understanding, and to read with appreciation. The class of 1980 will be a measure of our success, for to the extent that they succeed, we have succeeded; if they fail, that is to a degree our failure too. The skills that we have given them, properly used, will be building blocks to further understanding. Let us hope they use those building blocks well. - M.J.K. 24

to OCCUPATIONAL i EDUCATION The Occupational Education Department at Chelsea High School prepares students for careers in electricity, electronics, power mechanics, graphic arts, technical illustration, woodworking and health. Grade nine is a crucial year in the decision-making process involved in career choice. The exploratory program in Occupational Education offered in grade nine introduces students to all occupational education areas. The students are exposed to each subject and select a particular subject to pursue from grades ten-twelve. Once they decide on a direction, they have made a tentative career choice. Upon graduation, the students will have entry level skills for jobs or may continue their education.
