Upper: That ' s all there is, there are no more! Lauer: We’re getting all you flag bearers ready for Patriot’s Day. Under the direction of Mr. Myer Gootkin, the Foreign Language Department offers many ex¬ cellent opportunities for students. During a French class, you can hear Mr. Gootkin teaching his students to read French newspapers. Mrs. Montesano’s cheerful Buenos Dias, Clase, and Miss Brandt’s Muy bien is a common sound along the corridor. The Latin classes, under the direc¬ tion of Miss MacArthur, acquire good training in both prose and poetry. Last, but not least, the German pupils led by Mr. Freedman, not only learn the essentials of German, but also absorb much of its history. language 18

Chelsea Senior High School offers a complete program of mathematics ranging from Math I to Advanced Math and Calculus. To live in our modern world a rudimentary knowledge of mathematics is necessary. A house¬ wife must have a knowledge of addition and per¬ centage if she is to be a successful shopper. We live in an advanced technological age. Some of the best job opportunities are found in fields related to mathematics. Our advanced courses help prepare us for these jobs. A knowl¬ edge of geometry is essential for an architect or draftsman. In future years the importance of mathematics will increase even more. We will be very thank¬ ful for the mathematics training received at Chelsea High School.
