There are several turns in that road--college, service, marriage, jobs-various 'opportunities that are yours. Many opportunities are found in Chehalis. Several industries serve the local area and challenge the individual to settle down at home. As young adults, you can only think ot leaving Chehalis and its surround- ings. Eventually some of the class of 1957 will return to your hometown to become leaders of the community. Are you going to be a member of this group? Without you, Chehclis has no future. Wllllim M. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council of Chehalis High School acts as a clearing house for student problems and .re- sponsibilities. Consisting of the student body officers, class presidents and Sophomore and Freshmen class vice-presidents and secretaries, along with the editors of the Chehalin, CHSOTA, and Crimson and Gray, the Council meets once a month. Also included as members are the presidents of the schools various organi- zations. As a member of the National Association of Student Councils, the Chehalis chapter was host to the Southwest Washington Student Council Workshop in October. 45 schools were represented at the confer- ence, which was highlighted by the address of Representative Russell V. Mack, Washington's Fifth District representative in Congress. After the main address, discussion groups were held on the various problems of the individual student bodies. By employing the new ideas gained at the conference, the Student Council better serves the Student Body. When the new officers are elected and installed, the present school year officially closes, new year, 1957-58, begins with a new set of officers, members, and ideas. 10 A.S.B. President DOREATHA IONES Secretary JOHN TAUSCHER 59'-at-Arms We. the team of 1957. have reached the goal of our high school contest-graduation. During the first quarter, which began September 1953. Harry Fay was the captain. Our aim was to identify ourselves as an active part of the student body. In the second quarter, under the leadership of the captain. Iohn Tauscher, we took time out to build a bonfire and lead a pep rally for the Thanksgiving Day football game. At the quar- ter's end, we paused to honor the class of 1955 with the Sopho- more Hop, Thanks for the Mem- ories. The third period began with the Iunior talent show, prepara- tory to the Kiwanis talent show. Our captain, Bert Lambert. led us in making studies, activities. and athletics our goals for the season. The quarter ended with the I u n i o r Prom, ulapanese Springtime. The final quarter was crowded with school activities in addition to the numerous Senior responsi- bilities. We called a time out to let everyone go Walking in the Rain, our Fall Formal. The senior class play financed our class picnic, one of the last activi- ties ofthe year. In Iune the goal of graduation was attained. The presentation of diplomas climaxed our four quarters of high school life. 55 ---f -:'-f-1---uv-vrvg Robert Adams-Classical Scientific-Chorus 1, 2, 4, Chehalin 1, CHSOTA 1, 2, 3, 4, Drama 4, Librarian 3: FFA 1.
