ROW ONE: C. Reichert, D. Parrish, K. Zizzi, Mr. D. Dodd. v'-y, Emanon is the name of Cheektowaga Central's new literary maga- zine. The first issue was distributed, free of charge in May of I969 and because of its great success members of the staif hope to pub- lish semi annually. Emanon offers the student body an opportunity to express them- selves through their own poetry, short stories and art work. It pro- vides them with the chance to prove to themselves and others that they are sensitive young people with something to say! The talents so long unnoticed, the feelings so long unheeded find recognition throughout the paper of Emanon. Through their magazine. students have found a way to make known their ideas concerning such controversial subjects as the war in Viet Nam, social strife and the generation gapn. These themes have been brought out again and again in student contributions. t- ian 5 Not only have students submitted works concerning world problems but also those concerning their own personal problems, experiences, dreams, hopes and even fears. The ability to express one's self through literature and artwork is not restricted merely to students attaining high scholastic achieve- ments, but is often possessed by those possessing only average abili- ty. Emanon has given them the opportunity to exercise and experi- ment with their abilities. Through Emanon. an interest in literature and culture can be initiated and encouraged. It is hoped that their literary magazine can maintain the recognition and popularity it deserves. As long as students have something to say, Emanon will give them the opportu- nity to say if
