JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE N 23333. L. Gillig. L. Bavers, R. Czerniak-Consul. J. Maloney. The Cheektowaga Central Latin Club is a moving organization. The members of the club are constantly on the go attending such functions as the stage and national Junior Classical League conventions, the an- nual Roman Banquet, Christmas party and film festi- val, along with several field trips to take part in the Latin Club activities of other local schools. Mr. Becker and seven members of the club attended this yearls national convention held at Tulane Univer- sity in New Orleans, along with delegates from forty other states. The five day convention revolved around various scholastic and athletic competitions. The up-coming state J.C.L. convention is to be held at Binghamton University. It will differ from past con- ventions in that it will last for two days instead of the usual one. During these two days election for state officers will be held, skits will be presented, olympic games and several scholastic contests will take place. In the evenings, students will have a chance to get to know one another by attending mixers or other social activities. ROW ONE: L. Juszczak, J. Boczkowski, M. Szyszka, G. Wagner, C. K. Bigos, L. The annual Roman Banquet Again this year the annual Roman banquet held by the club was a huge success. Parents and members ofthe French Club were invited and looked on as students dressed in Roman garb conducted a slave sale. New members were auctioned off in order to boost the treasury. Later, in addition to serving dinner to their own par- ents, they helped serve members ofthe French Club, their mas- ters and the parents of the latter. Entertainment was provided by the French Club singing songs, followed by a skit written by Mrs. Becker and put on by some ofthe first year Latin students. Club members seldom know a dull moment and have certainly proven that Latin is not a dead language! We come to l'3Lll'y Caesar. not to ' ' praise himt' call us a chariot 1, Lu!!
