MORLEY Again this year, members of the Junior Student Council have been moving at a lightning pace, providing numerous activities and pro- grams that benefit not only those of the Junior High, but all students at Cheektowaga Central. Early in October, the new members were in- ducted at an impressive ceremony and very soon afterwards the council got into full swing. The traditional magazine drive was, once again, a huge success, and the total, way over S6500, sur- passed last year,s total of S5450 by quite a mar- gin. The school received the Little Threev tro- phy by beating Maryvale and J.F.K. high schools. The Junior Student Council requested, secured permission for, and sponsored what they hope to be an annual event, the first Faculty-Alumni basketball game. A full gym cheered the teams on and the antics of the faculty were greatly en- joyed by all. The game ended with the unusual final score of 56-56. With the money raised, the J.S.C. would like to be the sole sponsor of all spectator buses to athletic events, in this way EIGHTH GRADE REPRESENTATIVES-ROW ONE: J. Racki, B. solving a chronic transportation problem. Each year the council makes it a point to rec- ognize and reward those students with outstanding scholastic achievements. After each mark- ing period, honor awards are presented to these deserving young people in behalf of the council. The annual J.S.C. scholarship award, a twenty- five dollar bond, was presented to Jean Lewalskig Barbara Morely, Mike Aschenbrener and Laura Jusczak. The annual Christmas THIC Dance can be chalked up as another one of the Council's many successes. In May, the J.S.C. sponsored the Spring Out, a carnival held each spring in the school gym, followed by a dance in the cafeteria. Spring Out is an event at which many of the school's organizations raise money for their activi- ties. The Junior Student Council, under the direc- tion of Mr. Bifano and his able officers, is dedi- cated to improving all things at Cheektowaga Central, be they social, athletic, or academic. MR. A.
