. Reading problems in the seventh and eighth grades this year are being approached by this new program. Mrs. Van Brunt, the head of this project, hopes to create an atmosphere that will be conducive to read- ing, as well as one in which the students will want to read. The reading of magazines and newspapers which interelst the student is one of the new methods intro- dbced in this program. Magazines and newspapers are chosen as the reading matter for they are interesting to the student, causing him to want to read and strive to understand what he is reading. Although, it is still too early to notice any success on this new project, it is evident that an interest in read- ing has been stirred in a vast maiority ofthe students. PILGT READING PROGRAM SEATED: N. Schanne, D. Pirlc, J. Palkowski, E. Attea, W. Frier, D. Skorup- ski. STANDING: Mrs. L. Zacker, Mrs. A. Van Brunt, Mrs. C. Thompson, Mrs. T. Nestor.
