Centurion FIRST ROW P Behn M Fink, L. Klien, A. Stokes, M. Zgoda, D. Both, T. Kaminski L Chmura B MQFRIGWICZ Fisch J Both M La.loie D Malinowski. SECOND ROW: C. Brazer, P, Rybarczyk, B, Stokes S Golombek L Byczynskl D. Helstrom, J. Florek, M. The Centurion began as the C.C.H.S. News about the some time our centralized district was organized. Both of these papers had a rich journalistic heritage in the Pine Torch, which was the school paper in the Pine Hill school. The name was changed from C.C.H.S. News to The Cen- turion as the result of a name the paper contest , which was held in May, l962. Our purpose is to report all news events which tran- spire in our school and are of interest to the students as well as special attractions. In reporting fairly and impar tially, the students who are members of our stall valuable knowledge and experience in such varied as human relations, publicity, printing, and art work. we help to familiarize students with the workings of a newspaper. We feel that the year 1962-1963 has been an espe- cially fruitful one. Our year is highlighted mainly by the purchase of a new printing machine last June, This ma- chine makes it possible for us to render the best possible editions of our paper and permits varied art work both in decorations and photography. Our staff also had a dance this year on November l6. The staff also planned visits to either the Courier Express or Buffalo Evening News or St. Bonaventures College to augment the general knowledge of our staff concerning newspaper work. We feel that we have had a most enjoyable year this year and a very productive one. We are looking for an even better year next year, as we constantly try to do our best to contribute to the school life of the students by giving them an accurate and interesting school newspaper.
