Class The growth and development of the Class of i963 can be compared to that of a tree. We began our arduous struggle in high school as young saplings in the autumn of l959. At our first stage as freshmen at Pine Hill High School, we were unsteady and often times were swayed by the force of stronger elements. To support us were our advisors Mrs. Hammond, Mrs. Giardina, Mr. Distler, and Mrs. Mernan. As president we chose Sharon Young, as vice-president, Sandra Hoos, as secretary, Jo Anne Gervase, and as treasurer, Daniel Urshel. To strengthen us finan- cially, we held a skating party at the Arena Roller Rink in the spring of l96O. As sophomores we were transplanted into the modern and colorful surroundings of Cheek- towaga Central High School. The new environ- ment added stimulus to our growth. lt is humorous to recall that first day in the new school. We all were in a dilemma when we attempted to find our rooms. With the assistance of guides we even- tually arrived in our assigned rooms. A Get Acquainted Dance was held. This brought in an unexpected amount of proceeds to the gratifica- tion of all. Chuckling to ourselves we remember learning new dance steps while dancing to the music of Dino and the Bobcats. Leading us were Patricia Becker, as president, Sharon Young, as vice-president, Carol Schultz, as secretary, and Paul Schnobrick, as treasurer. Serving as our able advisors were Mrs. Wisher, Mrs. Giardina, Mrs. Silverstein, Mr. Hartnett, and Mr. Rudewicz. Definite signs of maturity were displayed as we became juniors. Now some of us were qualified for acceptance into the Senior National Honor Society, a strong branch of our high-school life. The autumn inductees were: Robert Baum- gartner, Patricia Bolero, Diane Crigler, Sharon Daut, George Di Pirro, Zoriana Jacyszyn, Eliza- beth Matuszewski, Jyoce Meinke, Barbara Muel- ler, Marjorie Mueller, Sharon Piotrowski, Donald Storm, Raymond Vorwerk, Karen Youells, Sharon Young, and Lorraine Zielinski. In the spring Patricia Becker, Kathleen Mania, and Margaret - nn 7 ' 'A' ' M TT T 'f 'TT History Schmahl were inducted. To raise funds for our Junior Prom we sponsored a Harvest Hop. ln early spring we were thrilled at receiving our class rings. Quickly the year passed and with it came our unforgetable Junior Prom. The theme was Fantasy of the Sea and Theresa Jeziorow- ski was selected as Queen and Paul Springer was selected as King. The decorations did not seem to be mere paper, but came alive under the soft lights and music of Sonny Michaels and his band. Not to be forgotten were our reliable advisers Mrs, McBride, Miss Scirto, Mrs. Wisher, Mrs. Vogan, and Mr. Hartnett. Our officers were Paul Schnobrick, Jo Anne Gervase, Carol Schultz, and Patricia Bolero serving as president, vice- president, secretary and treasurer respectively. All too soon our senior year appeared, and in the beginning of the year we eagerly chose Paul Schnobrick again as president, Barbara Mueller, as vice-president, Sharon Piotrowski, as secretary, and Patricia Bolero, as treasurer. Our school spirit was increased immensely by the campaign for Student Council officers and this aided the attendance at our football games. There was some difficulty in determining what our fund- raising project would be, but with the faithful and enthusiastic help of our advisors Miss Sopata, Mrs. Peard, Mr, Mahoney, and Mr. Becker, we finally decided to increase the amount of our class dues and to hold a dance in the fall. It is to them our gratitude is given for a rewarding year. ln the spring our glittering Senior Ball and splen- did Senior Dinner were held. These evenings will always be cherished in our hearts. Class Day ar- rived and with it our long awaited graduation. As we received our diplomas, for a split second the events of the past four years seemed to pass before us. Some were joyful and some sorrowful, but all to be remembered. Now with our roots set in a firm foundation, we the Seniors, having been nurtured toward maturity with fruitful ideas, will take with us a sincere faith in the future and a hope for success for a prosperous life. 39 ..-MTM . ...........,,,,,,,,
