CLINIC STAFF Standing: Dr. A. Germain, Mrs. A. Sullivan. Seated: Mrs. A. Roba, Mrs. V. Jackson. The School Physician, School Nurse Teacher and Dental Hygiene Teacher play an important role in the over-al-l School Health Service program, the objective: optimum health for all students. The School Health Services include the fall annual physical examinations, and dental inspec- tion, screening for vision and hearing acuity, emergency treatment, and first-aid care, assisting in Preventative Immunization program, including Small Pox, Diphtheria, Poliomyelitis, and Tuber- culosis screening procedure. Subsequent health examinations are given for exclusion, re-admissions following illness, ab- sences, in emergencies and for communicable dis- ease control. The Dental Hygiene Teacher also provides a prophylactic service including the application of sodium fluoride in the 2nd, 5th and 8th grades. Follow-ups on corrections are done through parent conferences. Recommendations relating to the health needs of students are submitted to parents, teach- er, and principal. The School Nurse Teachers visit homes to investigate illnesses, absences, to confer with par- ents regarding health habits of children, and se- cure the treatment of defects.
