The School Physician, School Nurse Teacher and Dental Hygiene Teacher play an important role in the over-al-l School Health Service program, the objective: optimum health for all students. The School Health Services include the fall annual physical examinations, and dental inspec- tion, screening for vision and hearing acuity, emergency treatment, and first-aid care, assisting in Preventative Immunization program, including Small Pox, Diphtheria, Poliomyelitis, and Tuber- culosis screening procedure. Subsequent health examinations are given for exclusion, re-admissions following illness, ab- sences, in emergencies and for communicable dis- ease control. The Dental Hygiene Teacher also provides a prophylactic service including the application of sodium fluoride in the 2nd, 5th and 8th grades. Follow-ups on corrections are done through parent conferences. Recommendations relating to the health needs of students are submitted to parents, teach- er, and principal. The School Nurse Teachers visit homes to investigate illnesses, absences, to confer with par- ents regarding health habits of children, and se- cure the treatment of defects. Among its many activities, the G.A.A. elected officers, held their an- nual dance, sponsored the Maroon and Gold, Yale and Colgate games, and presented sports' awards at the end of the year. Under the capable leadership of Miss Duca, the girls of the G.A.A. participated in a wide variety of sports. Sportsmanship, fun and team spirit resulted from this sports' program. The girls of the G.A.A. wish to extend their appreciation to Miss Duca for her help in making the year l958 - l959 a successful and pros- perous one for the Girls' Athletic Association.
