CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1964 we seniors as another frightened group of freshman began our journey through the halls of CCHS. This journey now is at an end but we shall always remember these four years as a time of learning and growth both mental and physical. Our journey of four years seemed at first to be an eternity, but now as we look back, we see how short the lime actually was. In looking back we remember the events which highlighted our life at CCHS. Our freshman year proved as exciting as we had anticipated. Our first leaders at CCHS con- sisted of our class officers who were: President: Tommy Morris, Vice-President: Jim Jackson, and Secretary-Treasurer: Jane Kessler. We were represented at homecoming by Judy Cagle who served as Freshman attendant. Our sponsors who served us so ably as we began our new experiences were: Mrs. Pinky Christian, Mrs. James Maxey, Mr. Ralph Spangler, and Miss Frances Fults. Our class favorites for this year were Tommy Morris and Judy Cagle. Our sophomore year began with high spirits since we now had completed a year at CCHS and were old, experienced pro's. We began this year with election of new class officers who were: President: Willie Orange. Vice-President: Joe Shoemakc, Secretary: Deaurelle Beasley, and Treasurer: Wanda Krantz. Our homecoming attendant this year was Kaye Frazier who represented us quite well at homecoming, 1965. Our float came in 3rd with the theme “Seeds of Victory . Our sponsors again were Mrs. Pinky Christian, Miss Frances Fults, Mr. Jimmy Maxey, Mr. Ralph Spangler, with the addition of Mr. Michael Howell. We as sophomores became more active in clubs and activities as two of our girls, Glyndan King and Suzanne Fort served on the cheerleading squad. And now we finally were upperclassmen as we began our junior year. We began again with our official leaders who were: President: Willie Orange, Vice-President: Kaye Frazier, Secretary- Treasurer: Joe Shoemake, and Reporter: Ruth Groves. Homecoming was again a big event in which we were represented by Patricia Groves. Our float entitled, “Cubs Dunk Dover came in first backed with great enthusiasm by the members of our class. To lead our enthusiasm and boost it were Glyndan King and Linda Copley who served as cheerleaders. This year was filled with activities for us as we enacted for our Junior play, a production of “Our Town sponsored and directed by Mr. Michael Howell. Our other sponsors for this year were Mrs. Pinky Christian, Miss Frances Fults, Mrs. Jackie Johnson, Mr. Jimmy Maxey, and for one semester of our junior year Mrs. Paulette Hart. We began our plans secretly for the junior-Scnior banquet but on May 19 at Montgomery Bell Inn we revealed our secret “Moments to Remember.” We as juniors spon- sored the annual magazine sale to raise funds for our class which was a great success. Team cap- tains for this were Tommy Morris and Kaye Frazier, Jimmy Jackson and Yvonne Winters. And then finally we were seniors. The long awaited time in our dream had arrived when we had risen to the top rank at CCHS. Our years here were almost finished, therefore, we felt we had to make this year the biggest and best of all; and so we did. The year was packed with leaders and activities as we once again elected our class officers who were: President: Willie Orange, Vice-President: Kay Frazier, Secretary: Yvonne Winters, Treasurer: Jimmy Jackson. Lawrence Hooper was elected to serve as President of the Student Body. Other student body of- ficers were Boy’s Vice-President: Willie Orange, Girls Vice-President: Kay Frazier, and Secre- tary-Treasurer: Sarah Pitt. Cheerleaders for this year were Captain, Glyndan King, Brenda Mayo, Suzanne Fort, and Janet Brown. Homecoming came again and we were represented by Glyndan King, Queen and Senior Attendant, Brenda Mayo. Mr. and Miss CCHS this year were Kay Frazier and Tommy Morris. Four years of our life were spent in work, study, and extracurricular activities here at CCHS. We wish for the students who will take our places that their years will be as happy and prosperous as ours have been. Dreams rarely ever reach into reality, but ours has. Every dream should have a happy ending, and ours has. We are ready to leave CCHS and enter into our dreams and aspriations for the future. 133
