Fitting out for the journey caused much anxiety. We consulted the maps of knowledge repeatedly, and received valuable advice from the crew. We fortified ourselves for the dangerous voyage. Before embarking on our arduous voyage of discovery we sought all the information possible about our destination and the dangers to be encountered on our way. All the sciences and the variety of our studies outfitted us for the struggle to come.
