Student Council, offiliated with the National Association of Student Councils, was involved in many school activities during the 1982-83 school year. The Student Council began its work during the summer of 1982 with summer meetings, publishing the student handbook, and hosting a breakfast for teachers in August. The Student Council sponsored a post-football game dance and Christmas and Valentine parties for the student body and organized a blood donation drive in cooperation with Blood Assurance. The Student Council was again in charge of the Christmas party for seniors and children from the Children's Home and placed an announcement board in the lobby on which are posted student birthdays and each week's menu. A Teacher of the Year Award was presented by the Student Council again and it instituted a Student-of-the-Month Award to recognize outstanding or consistent student contribution to life at CVH5. The Suggestion Envelope project was continued, two softball trophies were donated, and the Student Council again sponsored the Senior-Faculty softball game. A new half-day activity, named Spring Fling, was coordinated by the Student Council. Activities included volleyball, horsehoes, arm-wrestling, a trampoline, a truck stuff, a dunking tank, a car bash, a water bucket fight, tug of war, and kissing booth.
