PROFILE OF CHA TTANOOGA TECH The Chattanooga State Technical Institute is a two-year co-educational college-level institution established by an act of the Tennessee Legislature in 1963. Its first regular session of academic instruction began with the fall quarter student enrollment on Sep- tember 20, 1965. The Institute has a multi-million dollar physical plant located adjacent to the Tennessee Valley Authority hydro-electric facility in Chattanooga. On October 5, 1967 the Institute was visited by an evaluation committee from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and full accreditation was accorded the In- stitute on November 29, 1967. This achievement represents the culmination of concerted, dedicated effort made by faculty and staff, civic leaders, and interested citizens. Member- ship in and accreditation by the Southern Association add new dimensions to the rapidly expanding horizon of Chattanooga State Technical Institute.
