Its first regular session of academic instruction began with the fall quarter student enrollment on Sep- tember 20, 1965. The Institute has a multi-million dollar physical plant located adjacent to the Tennessee Valley Authority hydro-electric facility in Chattanooga. On October 5, 1967 the Institute was visited by an evaluation committee from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and full accreditation was accorded the In- stitute on November 29, 1967. This achievement represents the culmination of concerted, dedicated effort made by faculty and staff, civic leaders, and interested citizens. Member- ship in and accreditation by the Southern Association add new dimensions to the rapidly expanding horizon of Chattanooga State Technical Institute. r PAUL ANDREWS WILLIAM NABORS V W - we-ffaspv?--W-ff W ,,,,w 11 Mn ,I , 9 m f s. Our first two years of operation as Tennessee' s first technical institute have made us Number One in a larger than local league. Our first graduates are now testing their goal-oriented education in the practical world of work. Measured by any standards, their success is phenomenal. They are proving that technical competence is one of the best of all preparations for participation in a society that is becoming increasingly dependent upon advanced technology. We intend to stay Number One. What will it take to keep us there? First, we must continue our "Quest for Quality." We have now pioneered in so many ways that continuous growth can and must become our habit. Second, since we owe it to our successors to use our heritage wisely, we must enter a new phase of thought and endeavor at Chattanooga State Technical Institute. I-Ieretofore, our "Quest" has been supported by others - the State of Tennessee, the Federal Government, directors of various industries, and many private citizens. We must continue to merit their support by our pathfinding excellence. But now, as befits an institution that is rapidly maturing, the time has come for us to contribute more to our own existence. We need to begin repay- ing the faith of others in us by having faith in ourselves. I am taking this opportunity, therefore, to invite all of OSTI's many friends - from successful, profitably-employed alumni to entering freshmen - to invest in the future by investing in your school. We have established a OSTI FOUNDATION FUND under legal state charter that will give each of us an opportunity to share in our continuing "QUEST FOR QUALITY." Advice from students and alumni will be welcomed in direct- ing the pooled investment that this independent FOUNDATION FUND will make possible. From such "seed" money can come substantial and immediate results of much needed expansion and growth. OSTI speaks, "Thank you for making me Number One., With your loyal support I can and will remain so. " In all sincerity, dg I-I. ges ions, Dire or 22 I EDWARD L.
