COL. CREED F. BATES A busier man than he you'd find nowhere. This line from Chaucer, penned hundreds of years ago, is applicable today to our principal, Colonel Creed F, Bates. Besides his countless administrative duties, he is sponsor of the student council and is active in numerous religious and civic affairs. Here he uses the telephone as an indispensable aid in discharging one of his many duties. MISS SCHOLZE A lively soul, who knew the inmost art. Yes, our registrar, Miss Scholze, knows all our arts of excuse making for why we don't make up E's. She it is who aids and abets the teachers in urging us to remove these doubtful marks from our records and make sure of passing and graduation. MISS BAZEMORE It All the world's a stage, and each man in his time plays many parts, Miss Bazemore certainly should rank high as an actress. The parts she plays are many - a pleasant voice over the telephone, a listening ear and a patient voice when we pour out our tales of woe about why we were absent, and the tact and diplomacy of a Richelieu in dealing with office affairs in general. That is Miss Bazemare! MR. CONRAD BATES AND MRS, NAN MARTIN Mr. Bates - And still they gazed, and st,ll the wonder g rew, That one small head could carry all ne knew. Goldsmith meant these lines to apply to the village schoalmaster, but we apply them wholeheartedly to on schoolmaster, Mr. Conrad Bates. He tinds his way without trouble among the intricacies of physics, aviation, and the administration of the Chattanooga High School treasury, to say nothing of being coesporsar of that very lively organization, the Bulldogs. Mrs. Martin, assistant school treasurer, is equally at home among the mysteries of bookkeeping. Srnilingly efficient, she presides over the bookstore and sponsors the Bankers' Club.
