Much time, dedication, and hard work has been donated by members of Talefeathers to make this book possible. We all feel it is a success. But, the entire staff extends most of the credit to our supervisor, Mr. Gene Riha. Without his guidance and the student body’s participation in school activities, this book would have had little meaning. Prophesy It’s 1993, Chatsworth’s Class of '83 was reported having their reunion at sea, since eleven years before they had found such ‘‘enchantment under the sea. Newspapers and other media seemed to be having trouble finding the ship which set sail months ago. It is believed they may be shipwrecked on some strange island in the Pacific that takes over people's minds and lets them live out their fantasies. Yesterday, swammie, Gene Riha, reported some visions that had come to him while relaxing in his sauna. This is what he said: I see a beautiful, tropical island with many people. There seems to be a small village on the island. There’s Brian Sheppard in a tavern and it's called “Brian’s Bar.” He’s leaning against the bar planning tonight’s showtime activities starring Becky Weber and Carla Lowery. Next door is Lial’s Popcorn Place where Lial is popping extra corn for the evening luau. Close by is Stacy Quint serving cool refreshments to the customers. Meanwhile, hula girls Mary Maxson and Nancy Stadler entertain the crowd with curvacious movements. Down the path is Kris Carlock with his semi unloading coconuts and fresh fruit for Wayne’s Wonderful Mart. Supervising them is top checker and store manager, Ingril Hurt. And pulling up in ’76 Camero nearby is Angie McConnell and her dog, Brutus. Back down the street, Val Dohman staggers into Brian’s Bar as none other than Brian leaves with Dan Kessinger to go watch sea-horse races at Dan’s Duck Pond and Farm. Training the sea-horses for the first race is Leah Schade. And it looks like down the way are lifeguards Carla Lowery, Becky Weber, and Maureen Davis. It also looks as if they’re on a break. Carla’s combing her hair and twirling her whistle, Becky’s singing and dancing to the song “Fame” and Maureen's chowing down on a crab sandwich. In the distance I see Tom Kapper jogging down the street. He stopped in at Cindy’s Health Clinic for some vitamins. All out of vitamins, Tom whips next door to Kurt and Dave’s Fruit and More. There, Kurt is taking snapshots of the store’s inventory while Dave admires himself in the tin foil and combs his hair. Later on that evening at the luau, the Class of ’83 enjoyed the many festivities. Suddenly, Kris Carlock jumps up and yells, What’s the word! And none other than Maureen Davis jumps up too and yells, The Bird!” Well, whatever really happens to the Class of '83 in the future, we hope they have long, successful, happy lives.
