It’s dinner time already.” This Page Sponsored by Shafer-Pearson It's a warm summer day in the year 1991, a mere ten years after the Class of '81 graduated and abandoned the halls of C.H.S. For those of you who are interested, let’s visit the booming industrial center of Chatsworth and the Class of '81. Exiting off of Interstate 24, we are met by our escort and Chatsworth’s first woman mayor, Donna Sharp. Rounding the first curve, we see John Frye’s Tire and Alignment. Donna tells us that John has offices in both Chatsworth and Fairbury. We notice that Dennis Aberle's truck is parked in front. Dennis is a movie star, completing his first motion picture. The producers can't decide whether to call it Starting Over or Together Again . (We won’t mention the co-star’s name). Needing gas. we pull into Joe Brand's “Gas for More or Less”. As Joe fills the tank, his partner, Darryl Stiles sells us an issue of the Plaindealer, which is filled with news. (Like I said, times are changing.) Anyway the feature headline is a story about John Rebholz. John, General Manager at a local brewery, fell into a storage vat and nearly drowned. Rescue efforts were in vain, even though John managed to get out twice to go to the bathroom. He is being held in Fairbury Hospital, and was not available for comment. Reading the court news, we see that Starlyn Dunn has become a full partner in Lowery's Body Shop. She now owns ten shares of stock showing her interest in one certain Lowery body. Turning to the sports page we read that Jeff Johnson is still in training ... to become a Missionary, that is! Mike Carrico joined his favorite team, the Chicago White Sox, as certified centerfield. They lost the championship game when Mike dropped a fly-ball. It seems he had his eye on a certain blonde who was sitting in the stands. But there is some good sporting news. Girls’ high school basketball star Kelly Lee turned Professional, and last night, she scored the most. . . points, that is! In the T V. listings, we were surprised to see Brent Feely has taken over a star of the show “Fishing with Virigil Ward . Brian Steidinger has a new hit series, “The Incredible Face” and in the next exciting episode, he smiles, destroying THE FARMER'S PUB. Gas tank full, we are ready to go. We cannot finish our trip down 24, because John Stadler has blocked it... as he’s parking his semi. So we dicide to take the next best route, which is main street. As we turn the corner, we find tt the town has had the street widened to accommodate all of the businesses. We couldn’t decide which of the ur lanes to take so we chose the right two. The first building we noticed was the old Grand Building, w n has been remodeled into Cathy Carlock's and Tammy Bryant’s One-Step Away Rest Home. Tammy is ou. .ont teaching the home's oldest resident, Mr. Kapper, how to play the piano. Across the street at the old Gemini Theatre, the Generics Pat Lawless. Dave Clark, and Randy Fields are giving a concert. We were going to go in, but when we saw the long line, we decided to pass. At the doctor’s office, Tami Hornickel is filling out a medical report as Dr. Bruce “Walter Payton” Seward begins to amputate Pat Hoover’s arm because of a minor welding burn. As we leave the doctor’s office, we see town cop John Kroll writing a ticket to Tyler Houser for double parking his bloodmobile. (Rumor has it that Tyler uses donations for personal consumption). Driving past Sharon Kessinger's Body On Tap Salon, we can see Julie Knittles getting a Bo Derek hairstyle. Stopping at Rusty Bjork’s supermarket. Rusty tells us that his old friend P3m Gardner didn’t have much success with her Tupperware Store, so she moved away to Forrest. While in Rusty's we heard quite a commotion from the canned goods section. There we found farmer’s Scott Hoelscher and Kirk Thomsen preparing for a long trip. They told us they were going to find their old buddy Bob Dohman. who moved up North to join a snowmobile gang and terrorize small towns. Wishing them luck, we left with one more special stop to make. As we approached the school, we can see some high school students running on the newly completed ten-lane track. And to think that the class of '81 was the first to donate their profits to have it built! Reporting in at the office, we are surprised to see that Jill Haberkorn is the new secretary. She can’t talk to us, however, because she has to call the plumber about the bathroom. Going down the hall, we find that some new teachers have been hired. In the art room we find Deanna Dawson, who after taking nothing but art classes her senior year, decided to become an art teacher. Walking further down the hall, we see that Scott Haberkorn, after failing in the tire business, has started teaching architecture. His class is now designing plans for the Edison Hotel, to be built in Chatsworth. On the second floor, in the science laboratory, we find Assistant Lab-Technician Doug Bel1 teaching the students how to light a bunson burner. We have completed our tour of Chatsworth and our visit with the class of ’81. We really don’t know what will happen to the Class of ’81, or what they will do. but the class of ’82 would like to wish them the best of luck in the future. 60 This Page Sponsored by Chilis Bank Chatsmortlh The King and Queen Brent Feely and Jill Haberkorn This Page Sponsored by Citizens Bank Chatsworth 61 ‘John and Jill This Page Sponsored by Shafer-Pearson 'Rusty and Carla' Jill and Brent Dan and Star' ODE TO SCHOOL YEARS These past twelve years of schooling, An accomplishment for each alone, And the final year of senior ruling, Are but a stepping stone. Memories to share one more time, Before greater heights we soar. And as we receive our diplomas signed, We think to the past once more. Our thanks to all our teachers go, For education and lessons well taught, For now we’ll take what we know, To levels of life we yet know naught. To our parents who brought us all along, Their encouragement never lacking. For helpfulness that made us strong, We thank them for their backing. To others who had a helping hand, We’d like to thank them too, For all the times they made things stand, And helped us make it through.
