Atf++r-- KI76 2 3 4 Students of CHS: I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Tale Feathers Staff and their sponsor, Mr. Richard Brunskill for this truly splendid record of the 1975-76 school year at Chatsworth High School. Congratulations also to the members of the class of 76, your contributions to our school have been substantial and appreciated. We are proud to have you as representatives of our school and community. Best luck in all your future endeavors. Mr. James S. Langan, Superintendent Students, Congratulations to the 1975-76 Tale Feathers Staff and their sponsor, Mr. Brunskill, for doing such a fine job in producing this yearbook. I know that the work involved will become increasingly important as the memories of the past year are vividly produced and recollected in this yearbook. I am sure this yearbook will be cherished by all in future years. Mr. Leon J. Carrico 8 Good education deals with teaching a student to ''think.” To ask and answer the question why?” A good education is knowing when to respond or not to respond to a question when the purpose of the question is unknown or unclear. Good education is the ability to change and to successfully interact with frequency, variety and intensity and without petty prejudice to one's environment. Education is the never ending process of growing up and finding out what things are and, if possible, why things are as they seem. 10 % % unaut A good education consists of learning, to the best of your ability, anything and everything. All bits of information can benefit an individual. ’' Qeo trjKoSnmli A good education makes it possible for a person to change things that need to be changed, to accept things that cannot be changed, and to know the difference between the two. r %uM( That education which succeeds best, and best deserves success, is that which breeds success.” 0)dn c-%mt A good education is like good health - you don't know how important it is until you don't have it. 11 ibm P Mtk A good education is learning how to live one's life effectively. y(lue (jam (Pool A good education will prepare you for a better way to live in the days ahead. (Don A good education includes exposure to many varied but valuable learning situations. A good education does not depend on what a person has learned, but most important whether one has learned to learn and to think logically.” 12 (Rii it BoMandeh A good education is the obtaining of knowledge that will enable you to function more successfully in your future years. (Rfmda (Day A good education is the total development of one's talent, enabling that individual to live a fulfilled life, and attaining the aesthetic experience.'' School can give you a good education. Life can give you the best education. You owe it to yourself to make school a meaningful pan of your life. (M A good education is the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to one self and society - a process which is unending. 13 Mary Ann Boruff, Katherine Hoeger, Dorthy Ashman, Margaret Johnson The 1976 Yearbook Staff, under the direction of Richard Brunskill, has worked very hard to make this yearbook possible. The Staff was headed by Jean and Barb as Co-Editors and Lynn and Roxanne, serving as Junior Editors. Larry was photographer, and Steve as Artist. Doris and Sue were Typists. Alan served under the Sports Department. This book holds many memories, and we hope you all enjoy it! Would you believe Playboy Photographers? 16 Student Council, Chatsworth's ’’hardest” working organization, once again presented a number of interesting programs. Included were assemblies on magic, reptiles, and career education. The Christmas movie and driver-education program were also presented. Other activities included sponsorship of the Homecoming week festivities and money making projects. 17 All the President's Men?!?!? Art Club was formed this year by Mrs. Alice Ferguson. Among the fun things planned and carried out, a dance with music by ICE and a trip to the Chicago Art Museum were two outstanding events. The members also went to various art displays in Bloomington and had various speakers present programs about photography, macrame and various other subjects. 19 20 Spanish Club 21 There was a new twist added to the LetterMEN’S Club. Some new Letter-WOMEN joined. With the advent of girl's sports at CHS, the ladies were allowed to join the heretofore all male organization. The Club sponsored a basketball game between the teachers and the seniors, and parked cars at the Holiday Tournament in December. 22 The Starting Jump. ■jj-t - Aids the mentally ill! A number of events were the bill-of-fare for the members of H.O.T. Mrs. Pool's charges held two bake sales to finance the various activities. Visits by a florist to the club and a shopping trip to Chicago were among the fun” events planned. The H.O.T. members also donated their time to go Christmas caroling at the homes of shut-ins and visits for gift-giving to nursing homes. First Row. 1. tor.: D. Livingston, D. Costello, C. Sanders. The warm-up drills are an essential part to preparing for a football contest. Mrs. Kathy McCool, assisted by her able spouse, Mr. McCool, directed the fortunes of the ladies. After a somewhat slow start, the girls won their last several games of the regular season, paired by the inside shooting of Brenda Hubly and the hustle of the entire squad. As is tme of so many of the teams in athletics this year, many of the squad members will return to be the nucleus of the 1977 team. C.H.S. can look forward to great things from the hardwood gals. Space monkeys. ripoit Of “76” Homecoming Court Ted makes us famous. Who. ME? The Class of 76 ’ graduated as a seemingly normal class but the graduates' futures were yet to be determined. The graduates of this class would now go their separate ways, some to continue their education and some to take their place in the world! Unknown to the class they were destined to meet again. Now 10 years later the class of ‘’76” has grown up into a world of advanced technology. Part of this advanced technology includes space explorations and experimental colonics on other planets. A recently completed colony on Mars needed subjects to test it. Scientists concluded that for the success of this colony a far-out group of people would be needed. Since the class of ' 76” considered themselves far-out they were given the chance to prove it. Each member was assigned a different duty according to individual skills. After the second year of testing was over I was sent to sec how this experiment has come out. I boarded a starship trooper and headed for Mars. As the spaceship landed, I was greeted by Christi Nichols who was editor of the Mars Daily News. She filled me in on all of the hot stops on Mars, including Robin's massage parlor. She went on to say that no samples could be given since she had to attend to her regular customers, Scott Shafer the ex-karate expert and Cilenn Sanders, billionaire business tycoon. Just then I saw a familiar face step into the Bake Shop aci • the street. I thought it was Dan Sterrenberg so I went over to investigate. As 1 walked in I noticed Lori Hornickel in the back making animal cookies while her boss and owner of the Bake Shop, Matt Shade, watched intently. 1 wasn’t sure where his eyes were focused but he was very interested. Then I saw the man I was looking for, the S.I.U. grad, Dan Sterrenberg. 1 sat down and he told me he now owned the Co-Op Gas Station. 1 asked him how he could afford to leave his post for coffee. He explained that his hired hand, Dan Moranville was pumping ethyl for him. Then I bid Dan adieu and went on my merry way. My walk ended as I came to rest in Rob’s Bar Grill. This prosperous establishment was owned and operated by Rob and Barb Honegger. My presence interrupted another scuffle between Barb and Rob concerning the matter of turning the waitresses topless. Rob stood firmly. AGAINST IT! As 1 mosey down the line I noticed three rowdies tipping the brew. Just then one of the three hollered and waved me over. I recognized them to be Mike Lowery, Kurt Kroll, and Alan Drilling. The lads explained they had just gotten off work from Ace Rocket Repair and stopped for a few. After a couple sodies I stumbled out and bumped into the local law enforcement officer, Kimberly Dawn Bosshardt. After we said our hellos she explained to me her recent excitement. She had just clapped the irons on Timothy Fox Diller who was convicted of reckless driving, despite the efforts of Herr Herr Attorneys at Law. Steve and Susan put forth a brillant case despite the decision of honorable judge Keith Schaffer. Dick Livingston, States Attorney, chalks up another fine to fill his pockets. I bid Kim goodbye and good luck and I strolled away. As I was crossing the street the ambulance came flying towards me. I jumped out of the way just in time as it came to a screeching halt. I stood up to brush my shirt off and the driver. Mike A1 verson, apologized and told me to hop in. As we sped increasingly along Mike explained the emergency. Apparently Jeff Dehm misjudged his ability and rolled his land-rover while attempting to climb a crater with an 89 incline. Arriving at the hospital we were met by rescue team, Dr. Takasaki, Dr. Mansilla, and Nurse Flessner. I tagged along behind the bed carrying Jeff and went into the hospital. At the door I met Nurse Sialter who had just taken a blood tranfusion from the local cosmetic agent Rita Hoover. 1 passed through the exit door and once again I stepped foot on the lonely streets of Mars. Before I hit the dusty trail to my hotel I thought I would find some excitement. I continued walking down the street until I noticed some interesting posters. The heading ’’The Greatest Show on Mars” caught my eye. This outer space spectacular owned by Gail Dehm seemed to be some show, with Rita Edwards in the spotlight as stunt cycle driver. Other attractions were Susan Maxson as strong woman, Kim Thompson as Cheetah Trainer, and Merv Heminover as Rubber Man. The other poster read ’’The Fight of the Light Year,” pitted Mike Kessinger vs. Greg Homstein. Jim Rebolhz, the manager of Greg Hornstein, the underdog of the match says Greg still has his chances. Steve Kemnetz, manager of the great pudge, has described his fighter as everything from the great white hope to the little round man. Pondering over the situation, 1 chose neither taking my chances that something more interesting would come up. As I walked along, the clinging sound of the church bells caught my ear. Just as I turned the corner I noticed the church at which obviously a wedding was being held. Although for some strange reason, there was a decorated tractor and livestock trailer sitting out front. I tottered in and looked to the front of the ceremony. It was Rev. Runyon performing matrimony between Mark Henrichs and Henrietta Hog, (a Duroc, one of the better breeds). Bridesmaids were Vicki Hoelsher, Janet Scher, and Ronda Lade. As the ceremony came to a close the atmosphere was enlightened by two naked bodies. The two streakers, Nancy Zeedyk and Jean Gillette, brought the wedding to a climax. My visit was now over. As 1 boarded on an earth-bound ship, I put the finishing touches on my report. In summarizing this report, 1 found that the class of ”76” is pretty far out. 73 1. They'll call my name in a few minutes, and I'll walk up to receive my diploma . . . where do 1 from there? I've always had the security of the school routine and its activities, surrounded by the friends 1 was so familiar with. Now we'll all be going in different directions, and I wonder how long it will be before the memories that meant so much start to fade. After twelve years of this you would think I would be ready to move on, but I feel like I’m leaving a part of me behind. Maybe that's good though, because I really have changed in the three years that I've been here. Well, pretty soon they'll get to my name. Then I'll be up there, and it'll be all over. In a way, I guess everything’s really just beginning. advertisers AWARD WINNING PHOTOGRAPHY Nichols Homeshield May Success Be in Your Future 92 Compliments of DILLER 93 Everlasting Tile The Futura Shoppe Pontiac Music Sport Ph. 692-2027 222 N.
