Let’s turn the pages of history forward and see. Entering town, I decided to get something to drink, so I stop in at Boot’s Bar for one of his specials. Greg Edwards, the owner of the bar, has become very famous for his very own Boot’s Bootleg Delight. After leaving the bar, I stroll down Main Street, and I pass the Plaindealer office, where the editor, Vicki Thomsen, is working hard. I pick up a copy of the Plaindealer and notice some interesting news. It was announced today by Governor Marc Wittier that notorious gangster Allen Big Grunk” Edwards, who just terminated a sixty-day hunger strike, will be paroled today. Big Grunk said-his first job upon his release will be to rub out fellow mobster Nose Sandoval. Sandoval was also in jail recently and cost the state some money when a special wide angle lens was required for his mug profile. In other court news, Federal Judge Steve Endres convicted Attorney Debbie Kent on charges of contempt of court stemming from an earlier trial when Miss Kent called Judge Endres Cheetah. Mick Rosendhal has been deemed Mean Micky Gene by those protesting a rule that all parks must be closed between one and five p.m. Director of Recreation Rosendhal says the closing of parks is necessary to allow squirrels to gather fruits unmolested. Superintendent of Schools, Steve Gerdes announced that an investigation of local science teacher Shelley Schade would be undertaken. Allegedly, her chemistry students were undertaking such projects as producing a very embarrassing clothing dissolvent and also homemade firecrackers that were placed in a strategic location in Supt. Gerde's chair. It seems that Randy Perkins revived an old fad today when, much to the dismay of spectators, he ripped off his clothes and streaked down Main Street. Perkins was trying to ward off a hungry German Shepherd, and streaked right into Policewoman Bev Lang. Officer Lang, commenting on the incident, said that she experienced mixed emotions - she was surprised, upset, disgusted, and even bored! Perkins was arrested for speeding. In social news Miss America, Georgia Durham and Rebecca Hill, who is starring in a remake of that old classic, THE GREAT GATSBY, announced that on their good-will trip to Poland, they will be modeling clothes of that skyrocketing fashion designer, Mr. Mike of Berwyn. Also among the social highlights was the announcement of the marriage of Miss Angie Dehm - the bus heiress - to Randy Edwards, a local millionaire. Miss Dehm, whose company operates all school busses east of the Mississippi, is noted for her philanthropy - donating to such worthy institutions as Sister Cricket's Home for Boys. Randy made his millions in the Maytag business. Although Maytags are supposed to never need repairs, Randy's uncrating and installation techniques definitely shorten the life expectancy of his washers. On the sports scene, coach Tim Scott of the champion Flippers of the World Tiddlywink Association will sign self-proclaimed tiddlywink king, Dave Mil-stead. In the World Football League, Steinar Sorlie, of the Chatsworth Wrecks, was suspended from his team. It seems he couldn't kick a ten yard field goal during the game, but afterwards, kicked a fearing teammate, Larry (the Zonker) Ellinger the length of the field and over the goalposts. Linebacker Jim Livingston today signed a 11 2 year contract with another World Football Team - the Charlotte Elevators. On the local scene, housewife Donna Smartz was wounded when her washing machine exploded. Fortunately, Dr. Gwen Styles - quite an operator anyway - performed surgery, and has declared her patient to be in very good condition . (Investigators are not certain if the explosion was caused by faulty installation or by the laundry soap she borrowed from the science teacher who lives next door.) As I put down the paper I see Delta Dawn Aberle walking down Main Street with a suitcase in her hand. She’s still looking for a tall, dark-haired man - he’s a Swedish midget from the circus. The midget ran off and eloped with Colleen Irwin, and they now have twins - Milt and Beryl. As I walk on down the street, I pass Kelly’s Clothing Store. The owner of the store, Kathy Kelly, decided to stay in the clothing business so that she'd always have plenty of things to wear. Tara Dehm, the store model, is standing in the window of Kelly's with her arm around one of the male manequins. Today she is modeling fur parkas, Bermuda shorts, and white bobby socks. Further down the street is Floral's Florist Shop, where, they say, everything is sweet, including the manager. Next door is Patsy Lee's Place, one of a chain of 13d hamburger shops. Since hamburger now costs $3.14 a pound, these are obviously not quarter pounders. And there's Livingston's Trick Photography with Lee (Doubletake) Livinston standing at both corners of the building. Across the street is the factory that Rick and Jeff built. Their business is known as the Sharp and Ready Mechanical Pencil Company. Driving down the street are two of the farmers who operate just outside of Chatsworth. Driving is Terry Gerdes - a big cattle rancher southeast of town. He has become quite well-known for his experimentation in cross breeding his Charolais with pigeons. Riding with Terry is Farmer Clem Diller. He rides around with Terry because he can't afford his own truck. Following Terry and Clem with his eyes darting back and forth is the local policeman - Tom Deany. He doesn't have to wear a badge because everybody knows at a glance that he is the fuzz. Well, it looks like the old town of Chatsworth is in good shape: You'd never have guessed it by looking at the class of '74.'
