We would like to express our thanks to her as a teacher and a friend. As Senior Class sponsor, Mrs. Bergan has motivated their class projects, guided their Junior Prom, Senior trip and put up with them for four glorious years. These are just a few reasons why we, the Tale Feather staff, feel that this 1972 yearbook, should be a remembrance for our guiding light Mrs. Jeanne Bergan. 4 FACULTY ADMINISTRATION Superintendent Robert Stuckey Congratulations to the 1972 Tale Feathers staff and their sponsor, Mr. Brunskill, for their efforts in presenting this pictorial review of Chatsworth High School 1971-1972 school year. Congratulations also to the members of the class of 72. We are proud of you, and feel certain you will represent all of us well with your future success. Mr. Stuckey Principal Leeon Carrico I wish to congratulate the Tale Feathers staff and their sponsor, Mr. Brunskill, for the work they have done to publish such a fine yearbook. At the present time, we are certainly in an era of transformation, but I am sure this yearbook will keep revived throughout the years to come. Mr. Carrico Teacher of the Year The student body selected Mrs. Kristen Brunacci as the 1972 C.H.S. Teacher of the Year. Mrs. B.”, as she is called by the students, is the Girls' P. E. instructor for the Jr. High as well as the High School. She is the sponsor of G. A. A. and the cheer-leading squad. The fact that Mrs. Brunacci is new here at C.H.S. has not stopped her from being a big hit with the students. We wish her good luck her or wherever her work might take her. 7 1. MR. Junior Class Presents - It Happens Every Summer A hilarious comedy about a group of college girls working as Guest Editors for the June issue of a New York fashion magazine. Every June, the editor-in-chief of Debutante and her staff welcome the prize winners of the Guest Editor contest from colleges all over the country. This year, they find the girls wackier and more wonderful than ever. The girls are lunched, tea-d and dined by a bewildering assortment of sample-bearing and manufacturers, celebrities, beauty experts and men. Truly funny situations sparked by witty lines make this a high and happy evening. 36 Come on, Zorn; don't muff it again! Why doesn’t anyone EVER listen to me? If we're so great, why isn’t anybody laughing? 37 SWEETHEART BALL COURT, Left to Right - Cindy Kapper, Terry Gerdes, Carol Schroen, Jean Gerdes, Jim Corban, Carl Hornstein, Jo Beth Hubly, Barb Kelly, Clive Hornstein, Elizabeth Stuckey, Mark Zorn, David Homickel, Mona Peterson, Greg Shafer, Mary Jo Aberle, Gogie Sterrenberg, Angie Dehm. An Evening of One Acts On May 5, 1972, theSeniors at C.H.S. presented An Evening of One Acts. Ring Around the Corpse, was a who-dun-it type comedy, with a young detective investigating his first case of murder. The second play performed was Capracious Pearls, where the gang gets out of jail to find that there is an old ladies' home in residence at the place where the hid their stolen pearls. The third play was a melodrama with the heroine about to be forced out into the cold, cruel snow or into marrying the dastardly villian, who's being threatened with his life by his counterpart, who in turn has compromised the trustworthy hero. The evening was enjoyed by all. A special thanks to the directors Miss McKeeman and Mr. Demuth for their patience and Understanding throughout rehearsals. Directors M. The Capitol impressed all the seniors. 73 The tomb of the Unknown. Congratula 74 tions Seniors 75 Prophecy The 20th annual class of 72' reunion was to be held on June 1, 1992 but, due to the lack of participation, it was called off. It seemed to Janet Augsburger, reporter of the Class of 72 News, that maybe it was more than coincidence, since the same thing happened to the last 20 annual reunion. She noted that there were some legitimate excuses, other than the senility of such formerly active classmates as Jim Corban, Mark Kemnetz, and Karen Lang. Gerardo Berni, for example, was denied transportation by his former school chums. Ramona Petersen, now the wife of Mark Haberkorn, would have been there except her husband's basketball team was participating in the international finals. She thought the trip to Afganistan by far, outweighed the good, clean fun' that goes on at such an affair. The flying acrobats, Kay Hawthorne and Barb Kelly also would have attended except for Barb craving for a peanut butter sandwich brought about an abrupt end to the performance. They are reported doing well and should attend the 21st extravaganza. Mary Fox, our local veterinarian, would also have attended - except that she encountered a dog bite - giving her rabies. Services are Friday. Some of the fun wasn't present, however after Clive Hornstein, the one in charge of bringing the baby powder to class affairs, was sidetracked. Clive, that All-American boy in High School, is keeping up with his former image by modeling Red-White-and Blue Underwear, and was struck down after modeling a pair of 28's when he usually model's 34's. Sorry about that Clive. Three more that were not in attendance were Donna Higgins, Cheryl Teegarden, and Mary Sue Rebholz, proprietors of Tee-Hig-Holz 5 and 10 cent store. They were Dusy counting out $24 worth of trinkets and beads. At last word, the three had a good deal on some land out East. Glenn Heminover’s presence also was not noticed. It seems that while on the way to the affair, he passed a group of women, who were completely flabbergasted by a $1 bill changer that obstinately refused $1 worth of change. Glenn sauntered up ana firmly enterea a $5 bill into the slot. After receiving tne full amount of change for a dollar, he proclaimed, You just have to know how to work these machines. And prominently walked oft. David McGonigle hoped that his sentence would be over by reunion time. It seems that while working out at the Y one night, David came across an old school chum, Gordon Schroen. Being the sentimental sort Dave is, he grabbed the first towel he saw and proceeded to snap it against the person of Gordon, the first towel Dave saw, unfortunately, was the one he had around his waist. He was quickly arrested for indecent exposure and thrown into the brig by another old school chum and fellow classmate, Mark Zorn, one of our proud fighting, Men in Blue. Steve Weller’s and Bill Shols attendance was also missed at the 20th outing. Tney thought tnat defending their title in the Two Man Pall Bearing Race (held in Minnesota on Lake Manihaka) was more important. In their touching letter of response to the invitation, they explained the many years of training-skilling out of time, sweat, and money - would all be for naught if we didn't have this chance to pit our skill against that of the best of the country. Bill Diller was also missed at this, the 20th outing. It seems that B. D. is still paying for the yellow Torino he bought back in 1972; however, B. D. says the end is in sight and the car should be paid for in time to miss the 25th reunion. Mary Schlabowski was also not in attendance. The story goes that Mary, while strolling through Chatsworth's Central Park, was attacked; and at last report, had still not let the attacker go.' The story of David Hornickel is on of tne more strange presented at the festivities. Otis was strolling through Central Park, too, when his incident occurred. Otis was innocently tending to his business, mugging wnen he saw three la'dy customers. Ah! But those were no ladies, they were Jeanne Schlatter, Judy Howell, and Margie Heminover. (Which explains their absence from the reunion). It proved to be quite a aay for Otis, as he was nearly exterminated by Mary Schlabowski’s hug, and then finished off by Jeanne, Judy, and Margie. The reason for Becky Dassow's absence was that she was in the hospital suffering from her seventh relaspe of throat cancer. The doctors can’t be sure, but they attribute it to something in her environment. Susy Stuckey, had really planned to come to tne 20th get-oooo gether but, as she was traveling to the reunion with the radio on. W.L.S. played a Moldy-Oldy from the sixty's BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY by the Four Seasons. She was immediately thrown into a quiver, and decided to pull off the road. Unfortunately, the side of the road dropped 40 feet straight down. While in the ambulance to the hospital, her only comment was, Turn up the radio will ya? Sam Tauber was the only one excluded from the activities. It seems that Sam was denied an invitation due to the length of his sideburns. Sam didn't mind howerver, because he finds it extremely difficult to walk at all without tripping over the ten-foot outgrowths. Jean Gerdes excuse shows a definite lack in sense of values. The 20th reunion of the 72 class from F.S.W. High was also cn the same day, and Jean chose to attend that affair. Oh, it will be a sad day indeed when she hears of all the fun she could nave had. Mary Jo Lowery, Susan Hall, and Carol Schroen were also missed at the proceedings. They started out with Lowery’s car in plenty of time; but after three loose fenders, a steering wheel, and the right front door fell off, they tnrew the whole idea by the wayside. Richard Runyon was one of the select few to attend the meeting. However, when pressed to help pay for all the food and milk that reunioneers w’ere to have had, he replied - It you think I’m going to pay for this, you're nuts! With that he walked out. Mick Branz also attended the meeting. Not only did he help pay for the reunion expenses, but he helped out by eating most all the main course dishes as well. When last seen he was sitting on the steps outside the gym rocking back and forth saying - I can't believe I ate the whole thing! Jeanetta Durham was another one of the lucky few who came to the 20th annual extravaganza of the Class of ”72. Recently freed from jail and on bond, Jeanetta had several weeks ago attacked and belted a Roberts fan for booing out our great Bluebird team. It was the 40th time in 20 years that tnis event has taken place. Won't those Roberts people ever learn! And Ken Drilling, would have been at the reunion also, except that he is still in the hospital, recovering from that would which he incured while playing hockey for the Chicago Blackhawks. As you ALL know, he set a record 2 weeks ago by scoring in only three seconds after starting down ice on a penalty shot - Unfortunately he shot the puck by a surprised Tomy Esposito, who was the Chicago goal tender. Ken’s temmates had a lot to say about that dumb play - and he'll be out of the hospital soon. Keep up the good work Ken. Mary Coss's excuse was one of the more unique in reunion history. She had mad plans to attend, but decided that the transportation back to Chatsworth was not, to use her words swith enough. When asked several times to repeat the word swift - she continued to say swith - after several fautile attempts to pronounce the word correctly - she fell to the floor and proceeded to laugh herself into Manteno State Mental Institution - where she remains till this moment. At last report, Janet was still planning the 21st reunion; and at last report, Sam Tauber has already thought up his excuse. 76 Senior Will I, BARB KELLY, being of corroded mind and unsound body, do will and bequeath to Linda Kahle a beautiful picture from my bulletin board.
