Hanebuth Dedication He was our teacher, an educator who Dedicated his life to instructing youth.” He was our friend and comrade who Always had time to laugh and play. He was our Mr. Case, a man whose Memory we shall always cherish. These are the words printed on the plaque which hangs in the Library in memory of Eston Case, who taught at Chatsworth High School from 1962 until his unexpected death in October, 1964. The students of Chatsworth High School dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Case, who contributed much to our education. 2 m essaye to cSi en ors As you graduate from Chatsworth High School, each one of you seniors will go your separate ways. This may be the last time that all of you will be together as one group. Let us hope that the remembrance of the cooperation you have shown will remain in your thoughts and will be used throughout your life. Some of you will continue your education and some of you will begin your life's vocation. Whatever your path may be, I sincerely hope that you will remember the many other worthwhile concepts of life which your school has tried to teach. One of my favorite mottos is: Success is like a wheelbarrow—when you see it moving, you know someone is behind it pushing. Therefore, seniors, set your goals high and strive hard to reach your goals. SUPERINTENDENT Marlin Meyer Many things have happened this past year--some filled with happiness and also some filled with sadness. I would like to commend the yearbook staff for dedicating this yearbook to the late Eston Case Jr., who was one of our dedicated teachers and sponsor of the yearbook until his death. I am sure that he will be remembered by the students and staff of Chatsworth High School for many years. In closing this year, I would like to extend to you, each and every student, my sincere good wishes for the future. Bluebird football team ended the season with an 8-1 record. The Bluebirds opened their season with a hard fought 6-0 victory over the Saunemin Eagles. This triumph was followed by victories over Kempton, Gilman, and OMS. The team suffered their only defeat of the season at the hands of the Onarga Indians in the Homecoming game by a close score of 24-18. Piper City, Cullom, and Reddick were then tramped by the Bluebirds. A defensive battle by the Bluebirds resulted in the upset of the Forrest Eskimos. Although the Bluebirds placed second in the VV Conference, they beat the champions, Forrest, in a non-conference encounter. Congratulations to our wonderful team and coaches. Managers: J. LONGWORTB MOSCOW — (UPI) - The unlikely worlds of screen and space met here Saturday and found themselves in different orbits. What is a cosmonaut’s favorite movie? “I like all films that are great films,’ said Soviet spaceman Pavel Popovich, smiling. Would French actress Marina Vlady like to star in a film about space? “I d o n’t want to answer,” she said, smiling. “Will the photographers please sit down and let us continue? ’ the master of ceremonies asked, unsmiling. The occasion was a news conference drummed up to stimulate interest in the flag-g i n g Moscow International Film Festival, now ending its first week here. Cosmonauts Popovich and Konstantin Feoktistov came along. So did Miss Vlady, the only international star of note to arrive in Moscow so far. She is of Russian origin. The Russians had hoped that Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn and Jack Lemmon might he in Moscow but no luck so far. Miss Vlady, a dimpled blonde, smiled prettily, spoke little and said she loved it all. Class floats, the marching band, and homecoming queen candidates were the main event to the parade held on Friday afternoon. The only disappointment to the Homecoming festivities was the defeat of our Bluebirds by the Onarga Indians. The finale was the dance held Saturday night. Tom Woods and the Tunesmen provided dance music for the crowd. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Queen Cheryl Haberkorn and King Pat Somers. enior FIRST ROW: H. Diller P. Somers T. As we board the Hanson Airline, we are greeted by Barbara Hanson, Chief Stewardess, who is the former Miss Allen. She ushered us to our seats and assured us that we were in the careful hands of the pilot, Warren Shafer. We hear the shrill voice of the radio man, Steve Rosendahl, shouting testing 1-2 1-2. We need to refuel. For the refueling we landed at the Kyburz Dairy Farm. The refueling was done by a G.T.O. powered Shell Gas truck driven by Ronnie Green. Three hours later we arrive in Arabia. We are greeted by Harvey Ashman, ambassador, in a fire engine red limousine with the bumper broken off. After landing we decide to take a tour of the city. Walking by shops we see Harry's, The Camel Trimmers; we ask him where to eat. He advises that we see Perkin’s Playboy Club. We are greeted by three bunnies, Mary Ann, Susan Jo, and Linda. After a delicious meal of camel, which was chopped by Butch, the Camel Chopper, we decide to continue our journey. We stop at Tom Gerth's Harem where we find Kathy swaying gently to the music of the Desert Song. Our next stop is the Arabian Court House where Mayor Howard Diller is holding a meeting with some of his important subjects. The meeting is to decide what to do with the drunken camel driver, Red Ulizsch, whose lawyer, Darla Dehm, is pleading his innocence. From the court house we continue down the street where we come upon Linda’s Physical Fitness Gym. As we enter, we find Linda Shoemaker and Kay Hornickel doing their daily 100 push-ups. We next stop at Bill Irwin’s Museum where this famous athlete has all his trophies. Hunger strikes again! We decide to step over to the open-air market to get some fresh fruit. At the fruit stand we find Larry Sinks still stacking fruit. At last it was dark and time to get a taste of the night-life in Arabia. We traveled to the out-skirts of the city to the famous King’s Castle. The king and queen, who are none other than Pat and Cheryl, greet us at the door. We commented on the Queen’s hair-do, and she said it was done by the world famous beautician, Ann Lee. The King and Queen then invited us to the Royal Feast planned by the Royal Dietician, Carol Wahls. After the meal we were entertained by the famous flute-player, Betty Cording, who could charm snakes, and the one-girl dance band, Blaine Haab. One of the prominent guests was Dick Walters, the downtown coach of the Arabian Nights. The main dish was a stuffed pig that had been raised on Miller's Pig Farm. The next thing on the agenda was a judo exhibition given by Cheryl Wittier. We depart from the castle riding a flying carpet driven by the Courtesy Driver, Doug Aberle. As we fly across the desert, we see below us Sue Howell on one of her famous desert Fox hunts. Back at Bagdad we pick up the latest edition of the BAGDAD BUGLE edited by Renda Hughes. We find that Randy Reinitz has finally persuaded the Arabs that their numeral system is wrong. Our attention was brought to Denise Murphy's picture announcing her promotion to editor of Glamour Magazine. Now turning to the Birth Announcements we find that the former Miss Augsburger reached her goal of six children. We are now ready to go to sleep and we go to the No Tell-Motel owned by Terry Weller. Here we have a Curtis Candy Bar; of course, this Curtis Candy Company is owned by Jerry Curtis. Lois Teter, the lab technician at the hospital where we had our tests for oversea's travel, calls to tell us that our shots were negative and we cannot re-enter the United States. So we might as well make the best of Arabia. 59 THANK YOU Without the support of these contributors our yearbook would not have been possible. HABERKORN BROS.
