THE CHATHAM CHATTER H1Y The Boys H1 Y began the new school year un der the leadersh1p of Rev P P Harr1s The first two months were turned over to dlscusslons ot var1ous top1cs Two of these subJects were Glrls and Leadershlp Then because M Harrls was too busy w1th h1s clencal affalrs Mr Baker of the County Y M C A staff led the meet1ngs unt1l we found Slty He held hlS pos1t1on unt1l the Chr1stmas vacatlon after whlch the H1 Y was left leaderless unt1l Apr1l In Aprll a meetxng was held to d8Clde whether the H1 Y should be cont1nued or dlsbanded The members hnally agreed that they would rather attend meetmgs at n1ght than dur1ng school hours because of 1nterference wlth sports S the next meetlng was held at nlght 1n the Ogden Memor1al Church w1th Mr MOPFISOH dlI'8CtlIlg A commlttee was appo1nted to cons1der the names 29 of two men actlve 1n the communlty and ask them to be leaders One of these men Mr W1l l1am A Lathrop IS now our leader Under h1s d1rect1on a Const1tut1on was drawn up and the name of the H1 Y changed to the Pyramzs Chap ter of the Hz Y On May 13 officers were elected for next year They are Morton Chr1st1an v1ce pres1dent VS1ll1am Cunsel secretary treasurer Ted Hogeman IS the reporter to the newspapers On June 12 the H1 Y had a dmner at the Jane Grey D1n1ng Room followed by a dance at the Clubhouse The H1 Y although not so successful th1s year as 1n prev1ous years Wlll agam forge ahead be cause of the carefully selected new members the leader and the old members who stood by when the H1 Y seemed a fa1lure 1 a new leader in Mr. Middleton, of Drew Univer- Edward Carpenter, president. . . .- ,. . , Q . , . THE CHATHAM CHATTER 5 Ni ll Blue T1 langle The Blue Trlangle 1S the name glven to the Chatham Hlgh School group of Glrl Reserves It IS run by the women s d1v1s1on of the County Y M C A The oificers for last year were Ohve Bray presldent Peggy LaFoy vlce presxdent Mlldred BOIVIS secretary and Nancy Jackson treasurer M66tlDgS were held twlce a month ID the new school or occaslonally at a member s home Th general program followed along the hues of ser vice soclal act1v1t1es and lnsplratlonal dlscus slons Durmg the year there were several worth whlle dlSCUSSl0DS and talks whxch were of value to all of us Mr Gyer of Boonton spoke about Mlss 1931 an approprlate subject Margaret Lum our advlser told us about her trxp around the world and Mlss Loulse Brown told us about the benefit of domestlc sclence 28 Two card partles were glven All of the hlgh school g1rls were lnvlted so that they might be famxllar wlth the Triangle and Joxn when they became sophomores The proceeds of the second party were glven to the Porto Rlcan Fund Around June all of the senlor g1rls are greatly lnterested ln graduation dresses The Blue Tr1 angle came to their a1d wlth a Bamberger fashlon show Many lovely dresses were dlsplayed and the g1rls had an opportunlty to declde on what they would llke Th1s year representatxves of the group have attended two conferences Ollve Bray went to the State Conventxon and Mlrlam Stokes Nancy Jackson Marle Fleldmg Carolyn Huff Ollve Bray and Mlldred BOIVIB went to the county one at Mountaln Lakes Many valuable ldeas and sug gestlons were gamed IH thls way and we hope that the club w1ll carry them out next year Peggy La Foy .32 , , , . 3 il v I I g ' 3 7 . swf - As , . Glee Club Notes Presldent Myrtle Rxley Secretary Marlon MacCrea Llbrarlan Isabel Straub Every thlrd perlod on Mondays and Wednes days weve probably annoyed you wlth our mu slcal efforts the culmxnatxon of wh1ch was shown at the concert May 8 Even though the Glee Club dxd lose a great many of 1tS old stand by last year thlS year was certa1nly a much better one The success was due malnly I thlnk to two thlngs The work and patlence of Mrs Krause and the cooperatlon and mterest of the glrls themselves We ve had some very lnterestlng experx nces such as Slnglllg' wlth a large chorus of glrls up 1n Morrlstown We sang two very well known splrltuals Roll Jordan Roll and Swxng Low Then too we had the pleasure of smgmg the selectlon Who Is Jean before the Womans 30 Club At Christmas tlme we serenaded Mr Jeter Mr Bates and MISS Durgan wlth Chrlstmas car ols Although It was qulte chxlly we kept our selves Warm by smglng all the more loudly After we had flmshed carolmg we went to the home of one of the glrls for refreshments where all the glrls had a pleasant evenlng Ever slnce Chrlstmas we have been worklng on the cantata The Lady of Shalott The con cert last month was the result of much hard work on the part of Mrs Krause and of the glrls Solos were sung by Murlel Hopplng Isabel Straub Inez Nunn and Myrtle Rlley The stage decorated wxth pretty sprlng flowers was very attractlve We hope that all the glrls wlll come back to Glee Club next yea and that they wlll contlnue to g1VE Mrs Krause the support and cooperatlon that they gave th1S year MYRTLE RILEY 31 .
