THE CHATHAM CHATTER Basketball Team Baseball Season The as yet young baseball season began au splclously with vlctorles over Madison and Rock away These games brought forth a crop of three homers two by Swede Kronberg against Rock away and one by Cece Mercer agalnst MadlSOP Also of special note was Ceces one handed catch at Madlson Our pitchers are Rlelly Mercer and Dorchak The regular infield IS composed of Kronberg first base Bray second base Dorchak shortstop and Captam Mlllburn third base The outfield con slsts of Ritchie left field Mecer center field and Christian rlght field Dorman Alberts catches Basketball Season Chatham crowned a successful basketball sea son by wmnmg the third and final leg on the Morrls County Prlmcpal s Assoclatlon Cup The tournament held at Mad1SOD was packed vuth thrills Rockaway who had won two legs was ellmmated ID the first round The Gula brothels were effectually splked In the second round Chatham came from behmd with a sensational rally m the secono half featurmg three field 25 goals by Captain Ritchie to eliminate Netcong In the finals Roxbury offered httle competition lhe most notable 1nd1v1dual accomplishment of the season was the Jumplng of Swede Kron berg The blg center out Jumped every one of his opponents Cece Mercer was high scorer Cece improved as the season went along H still has plenty to learn but as he wlll be Wlth us for three more seasons we expect great things of hlm Captain Ritchie besides dropping ID a dlsturbmg field goal or two at not too mfre quent lntervals contributed h1s Inspiring field generalshlp Bob Bray proved a capable running mate for Mercer He was especially noticeable on sucker shots Mike Dorchak the dlmlnu tlve guard got better and better as time went Among the regular season games we are es peclally proud of our vlctory over Summlt the first basketball victory which we have won over that school and that over M8dlSOH probably the most excltlng game of the year Mike Dorchak has been elected next years caotaln We wlll have with us again Dorman Alberts Ray Millbuln Ken Rellly and Morton Chrlstxan 1 - i-- , . , . -- ,., . . . .
