White Secretary Chatham High School (7) Slowly but steadily our class has risen from the lowly Freshman class of ’51 to the mighty Senior class of ’55. There have been some wonderful days and some that weren’t so wonderful. First there was the confusion, which class, football, basketball, all at once — locker combinations — Oh dear, I’m lost! By the time we were Sophomores we had really arrived. That year we joined clubs, struggled through Algebra, won athletic letters. Juniors — upperclassmen at last. Dear old homeroom 6, bake sales, American History, and the Junior-Senior Banquet kept us busy that year. Then before we knew it we were at the top — Seniors. We started an Annual, wrote English themes, had bull sessions in room 6 and played basketball — but most of all we looked forward to graduation. Soon the good times, the failures and successes will just be memories, memories of the most wonderful days of our life, those at C.H.S., our Alma Mater. LIBRARY CLUB Our Club was organized in order to create an active interest in the library and to encourage reading and an appreciation of good literature. One of our aims has been to make the library more attractive, as well as more functional. Library aids are included in our membership and many of our activities center around the “life of a book” — from its first entrance into our library until we are ready to display it, and check it out. Bulletin Board displays are also a part of our work. Our Club assisted the local Book Club in the observance of National Book Week. We hope our club has created a desire not only for better reading, but has interested many in the career of librarian !
