' O the PCW of Tomorrow . . . . A Dream Realized This Book is Sincerely Dedicated College IS an individual proposition ... it is impossible for one person to predict what College has meant to another. In this hook we have tried to reflect Campus life as we have seen it and we hope that it will mean much to you. The tower was used as a symbol . . . not for the sake of the tower alone, ' but in the hope that it would be symbolic to you as an individual. May it stand for the Campus, for peaks of enthusiasm, for heights of ambition, and for many of the best things that have been a part of your life at PCW. History N N L V A N I A N SOPHOMORES We ' re happy! Some people say the Sophomore year is dull; we disagree. We have be- hind us an mterestmg, but unquestionably difficult, Freshman year; we have before us what are generally considered the two best college years — the Junior and Senior. We do not have that dased, bewildered awe, with which the Freshman gazes ahead to three more years; nor the wistfulness of the Junior, who, though she is looking forward to her Senior year, sees the social whirl of her Junior year come to an end; nor that feeling of sadness, which overtakes the Senior who suddenly realizes that her school days will soon be over! We are happy, for, though we work hard, we play hard. We support our col- lege dances enthusiastically; we are interested m athletics; several of our class are tal- ented musically. Now that the year is almost over, we do not resent hours spent in the laboratory or the library, nor the time taken up in preparation for that required course, nor the anxious moments we passed before we had decided on a major, for we knov. ' that it is a part of our college life. We feel that we occupy a definite spot in the student body. We are proud and happy to fill that niche set aside for Sophomores, and we hope that future Sophomores will be as happy there as we have been this year. Adams. Anna L. Representative Jane McClung 4 N N Y V A N I A N FRESHMAN FUN Registration Day and the new Freshman class bewildered! Many were wandering ' around minus big sisters, completely baffled by the maze called Berry Hall. After a while everyone settled into routine and got to classes without more than one mistake for each room. Arm-banded and big-sistered we soon became acquainted with many of our classmates. The Get-together party, Big Sister dance, Mountain Day and just school helped us to become a part of PCW. Freshman meetings sponsored by the Junior Class and led by Gladys Patton helped us to learn many of the ins and outs of our College. And then on Matriculation Day when we received our colors and became, officially, a class, arm-bands became a thing of the past and registration just a bad dream. Cockerille, Kirk, Dysart Wilson, Eastwood, Arthur, Ostcrgard, Christy Faculty-Student Council The Faculty-Student Council, which meets tn-yearly, is of paramount importance on our campus. It is in this council group that faculty and students discuss the academic and social policies of PCW. While the council may not actually change the existing policies, it makes valuable recommendations to SGA concerning questions brought up in the meetings. It is through such an organization as this of students and faculty that better under- standing and more school spirit is bred. MEMBERS - ' • College President Dr. Herbert L. Spencer Dean Miss M. NCES Johnson 40 PENNSYLVANIAN Student Government Association PCW IS student governed. This fact should be of paramount interest to every student for it gives her a definite responsibiHty ; she must cooperate to keep order and honor inviolate at PCW. Student government sets rules and regulations for Chapel, campus activities, library privileges and student elections. The SGA Board, the House Board and the Honor Committee see that these laws are not infringed upon. The Student Govern- ment Association is aided by the Faculty, particularly the elected Faculty Adviser, who approves of, or suggests changes, m Board decisions. Student government is eminently successful at PCW, because every student is a member and has a strong personal interest in the manner in which all of her school aifairs are conducted. S.G.A. In a judicial capacity, it serves in rule enforcement and in expansion or restriction of rulings. The board also has charge of the social activities of the dormitory. This year the board, composed of elected members, has endeavored to codify the pen- alties for rule infraction and to revise several rulings of past boards. There are two dances, the Mother ' s Day Tea, the formal dinners at Christmas and on Valentine ' s Day, and several informal affairs sponsored by the house hoard. It is through the board and Miss Ethel Bair, house-mother, that the dorm is such a livable home.
