Grade Two The second grade has the distinction of being the largest class in the school this year. At one time the enrollment reached twenty-nine but was dropped to twenty-five with the withdrawal of four students. Mrs. Phelan is the teacher of this fine group. Their first stage appearance of the year was made when the class took part in the Thanks- giving entertainment for the P. T. A. Colorful crayon and water color drawings were made by these students and were sent to children of foreign lands through the Art for World Friendship Committee. Equally beautiful and interesting pictures were received in exchange. Parties were also a part of the year's activi- ties taking place at Halloween. Christmas, and Valentines Day. 5 ,, t . , To 3 X25 'S 'Y 5 'E gli in . ig 5 Q if ' is 4 -: ev fi Vfifgiflfi 2 H ' - i J Z5

They were starting their first year of formal education under the guidance of Mrs. Clady. New habits and friends were made as well as learning the ABC's. The first of their class parties was at Hallow- een when the students made their own masks. At Christmas the entire group helped in creating decorations ior an unusual seasonal tree. Hand- icraft was again shown when valentines were made for a gay valentine party. The 100 Club was an unique attraction of the year. A bulletin board display illustrated each pupil's ability to count and write to one hundred, an accomplishment necessary to become a full- fledged member of the club. The first grade made two public appearances during the year, The first was at a P, T.A. program when choral verses were recited. Later they participated in the grade operetta by playing in the rhythm band. Grade Three This year the third grade enrollment reached a total of nineteen students. Their school day was a bit different throughout the year with mornings being spent with Mrs. Feichtner studying arithmetic, science, and writing, while afternoons were given to reading, spell- ing, and English with Mrs. Ross. Besides holiday parties at Halloween, Christmas and Valentines day, they had one other important highlight which will be remembered. At, the November P. T.A. program, the third grade gave a play, The First Thanksgiving, wearing costumes resembling Indians which they themselves had made.
