Senior Class History Twelve years ago, in September, 1941, twenty-five frightened but inquisitive boys and girls started their first trip up the steps to take their places in Chatfield School. Miss Heinlen, our teacher, brought us, who were destined to become the Class of '54, through our first year of school. Our second year of school was much better than the first, we knew our way around the build- ing and knew each other fairly well. Our new teacher, Miss Green, taught us during our second and third year. By our third year, we thought we were really getting up there fast. This was our third new room. During our fourth year we enjoyed parties during school. Mrs. Morton was our teacher. We had never been upstairs, so when we got to be fifth and sixth graders, our wish came true. For our last years in grade school our teacher was Mrs. Walimire. Here we were with half of our education completed. Already we were in Junior High or seven- th grade. Going from one room to another, we didn't know whether we could remember from one day to the next where we belonged, but we soon became adjusted. At the beginning of our eighth grade, we elected officers which were as follows: Pres. , Kenneth Clady, V. Pres., Marcia Zucker, Sec'y., Joanna Beal, Treas., Faye Ostermyer, Student Council, Zona Eicher, News Reporter, Rosalie Kalb, and class sponsor, Mrs. Dale Meffley. During the year, we enjoyed a Hallowe'en party. We sponsored a chapel and an assembly. Our first year in high school was something new for us. Our initiation, by the way, we all lived through it, was really something to remember. We elected officers as follows: Pres. , Gerald Kreim, V. Pres., Faye Ostermyer, Sec'y., Kenneth Clady, Treas. , Zona Eicher, Student Council, Marilyn Schifer, News Reporter, Marcia Zucker, and class sponsor was Mr. Donald Gilbert. We presented an assembly and a chapel. We gave a farewell party for the seniors at the end of the year. ln our sophomore year we elected the following officers: Pres. , Kenneth Clady, V. Pres. , Marcia Zucker, Sec'y., Marilyn Schifer, Treas., Miriam Gerhart, Student Council, Dorothy Siesel, News Reporter, Rosalie Kalb, and Mr. Jordan was our sporsor. We gave an assembly in February and later a St. Patrick's Day party. We gave a short play entitled, Paul Wrecks the Car , under the direction of Mrs. Brown. We also aided the Seniors with their festival. As juniors we gave our first play, Take Your Medicine , directed by Mrs. Brown. The officers were elected as follows: Pres. , Marcia Zucker, V. Pres., Miriam Gerhart, Sec'y. , Marilyn Schifer Treas., Kenneth Clady, News Reporter, Joanna Beal, Student Council, Rosalie Kalb. Mrs. Durbin our class sponsor, helped us in planning our Junior-Senior Banquet held at the Civic Nic-Nac at Fostoria. The theme was April Showers . ln 1953, we began our last year of school. Sixteen members add up the total left since twelve years ago. At the beginning of the year we elected officers as follows: Pres. , Kenneth Clady, V. Pres. , Gerald Kreim, Sec'y., Dorothy Siesel, Treas., ldonna Lutz, Student Council, Marilyn Schifer, lxbws Reporter, Faye Ostermyer, and sponsor, Mr. Jordan. We had the enjoyment of initiating the Freshmen this year. For our Senior play we selected Grandma's Best Years , which was directed by Mrs. Brown. For the banquet, the Juniors took us to Sandusky to the Rieger l'lotel. The theme wcs The Stork CIub . For our class trip, we decided to go to New York City. We selected our gowns, name cards, and invitations at the beginning of the year. Our class colors are blue and white, class flower, red rose, and our motto is Always Aim High . Baccalaureate and Commencement were held on May 23 and 24, 1954, respectively. .loanna Beal Class Historian 24
