Myself I have to live with myself, and so I want to be fit for myself to know, I want to be able, as days go by, Always to look myself straight in the eye, I don't want to stand with the setting sun, And hate myself for things I have done. I don't want to keep on a closet shelf A lot of secrets about myself, And fool myself, as I come and go, Into thinking that nobody else will know The kind of a man I really amg I don't want to dress myself up in a sham. I want to go out with my head erect, I want to deserve all men's respectg But here in the struggle for fame and pelf, I want to be able to like myself, I don't want to look at myself and know That Pm bluster and bluff and empty show. I never can hide myself from meg I see what others may never seeg I know what others may never knowg I never can fool myself, and so, What ever happens, I want to be Self-respecting and conscience-free. - - - -Selected so 7 'T 1 ,f ' Seated: Standing: Faculty Mr. Donald Jordan, Industrial Arts, Geography 7, History 83 Mrs. Lucille Durbin, Home Economics, Cafeteria Supervisor, Science 7, Biology, Mr. Lester Taylor, Superintendent, General Science, Chemistry, Science 8, Mrs. Marjorie Phelan, Grades 2 and 33 Mr. Dale Meffley, Coach, Algebra, Math. 7 and 8. Four of these eight have gone through twelve years together. We had as our teacher Miss Heinlein Clater Mrs. Luginbuhll. We all looked forward to the next year of school. We enjoyed coming back to school the second year because it was no longer strange to us. We again were taught by Mrs. Luginbuhl. During the third grade, we had Miss Pauline Green as our teacher. We had a Halloween Party, Christmas Party, and a Valentine Party, during the year. We all enjoyed these parties. Under the watchful eye of Miss Green, we all passed from the fourth grade to the fifth. In the fifth grade we had Miss Wilma Clutter Clater Mrs. Walimirel as our teacher. This was our first year upstairs and it took time to become accustomed to coming upstairs all the time. Under the guidance of Mrs. Walimire, we all passed the sixth grade. As seventh graders everything about high school, and changing classes were new to us. We elected the following officers: President, Clifford Beck, Vice President, Madelyn Massieg Secretary, Dorothy Auckg Treasurer, .Toe Kreimg and Student Council, Raymond Gerhart. Mr. C. C. Richards was our class sponsor. Charles Groves and Sara Helen Youman were also members of the class. In the eighth grade we elected the following officers: President, Clem Studert Vice President, Madelyn Massieg Secretary, Joe Kreimg Treasurer, Dorothy Auckg and Student Council, Raymond Gerhart. The boys in our class were on the Junior High Basketball team. Our cheerleaders were Dorothy Auck and Madelyn Massie. During the year we enjoyed a skating party in Tiffin and a Halloween Party. We all looked forward to being, 'Green Freshman . With nine members in our class we began our first year in hlgh school. Raymond Gerhart was elected President, Clem Studer, Vice President, Joe Krelm, Secretary, Dorothy Auck, Treasurer, and Clifford Beck, Student Council. Mr. William Williams was our sponsor. On October 8, we had the unforgetable experience of initiation. The f question arose in all of our minds, How can people be so inhuman? But we all sur- vived and looked forward to the time when we were to be on the giving side. Our assembly was held on February 11, using the theme of Lincoln. A program similar to that of Truth or Consequences was also planned with students taking part. At the close of the school year, we planned a farewell party for the Seniors. Knd so the first year of high school came to a glorious end. Virgil Kanney joined us the first of the year. 15 We started the tenth year by electing the following officers: President, Ruth Leonhartg Vice President, Dorothy Auckg Secretary, Joe Kreim: Treasurer, Virgil Kanneyg and Student Council, Madelyn Massie. Mr. Dale Meffley was our class sponsor. We gave an assembly in January and, a Chapel program before Christmas. Violet Johns joined our class in November, but left at Christmas. , This year, as Juniors, we started the year by electing officers. They were as follows: President, Joe Kreimg Vice President, Virgil Kanneyg Secretary, Clem Studerg Treasurer, Dorothy Auckg Student Council, Raymond Gerhartg and News Reporter, Madelyn Massie. On October 13, 1950, we sponsored a hayride for the high school. A good time was had by all. Clifford Beck left while a Junior. With the help of some of the Seniors, we gave the play, The Darling Brats. It was given on November 3, 1950. Mrs. Brown was directress. We gave the Christmas Party on December 18. We received our class rings in November. The Junior and Senior Banquet was held in Norwalk, Ohio, on April 28, 1951. We had as a theme The Old Fashioned Garden. Seniors at last! We elected officers for the last time. They were: President, Virgil Kanneyg Vice President, Raymond Gerhartg Secretary, Madelyn Massie, Treasurer, Ruth Leonhart, Student Council, Clem Studerg and News Reporter, Dorothy Auck. Initiation was held on October 18, 1951. On October 25, we went to Tiffin to the Bole Dundurand Studio to see who would break the camera first. We had many class meetings to select name cards, invitations, caps and gowns, and speakers. They were: Reverend Katterhenrich for Baccalaureate and Father Duffy for Commencement. Baccalaureate is to be held on Sunday, ,May 18, and Commencement on Thursday, May 22, 1952. Our sponsor again this year is Mr. Meffley. The Senior Class play is to be given on May 2, 1952. Now the History of the Class of '52 must come to an end and we will have to say Farewell' to our old school days. I am sure these days will be remembered for the rest of our lives. Ruth Leonhart Class Historian 16 Senior Class Prophecy Early in May of 1958, I was busy making my passengers comfortable on one of the American Airline's D-C-6's. When the co-pilot came back to tell me they were having engine trouble, and would have to make a forced landing, I then explained to the passengers what was happening. We then fastened our safety belts. I looked out the window and saw we were circling a fairly good sized field. It wasn't long until we were taxiing to a stop. As we alighted from the plane I noticed a young man running toward us across the field. He had emerged from a beautiful white farm house. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out it was my old classmate, Clem Studer. When the pilot told us we would be there for a while, Clem inivited all of us to the house. He later explained that John Geiger had finally sold him the farm. And he had gradually built all new buildings. He said he was being married in .Tune to a girl from Bucyrus. I guess everything turned our about perfect for Clem. I asked Clem if I could use his beautiful new ford for a couple of hours. He hesitated momentarily, until I assured him I was a much better driver than I had been in 52 . I then drove out to see Mrs. Auck to see if she had received a more recent letter from Dorothy than I had. Dorothy is now living in California. Her busband, Lee, is a hot rod driver out there. After chatting with Mrs. Auck I drove over to talk to Mrs. Leonhart. She said Ruth was a stenographer for some big firm in Detroit. She also said Ruth was engaged to a guy named 'Bill . After bidding Mrs. Leonhart good-by, I quickly headed toward Kreims to see what Joe had done with himself. My this Ford rides nice! Don't believe they put as much tin in them as they used to. How we used to tease Clem about tinny Fords. Ah! memories. ' Well, here we are at Joe iChickieD Kreims. What, .Toe has a home of his own now! Mrs. Kreim says it's a shame I had to miss him. She said, that he just left a week ago with Marcia and the twins for a trip out West. She said they flew out in Joeis helicopter. My! My! How prosperous this class of mine is. Almost forgot to find out what happened to Virgil. That would never do. Well, Virgie was as surprised to see me, as I thought he would be. Virgil tells me he is president of some large plant in Bucyrus: The boys in our class always did say he was such a good class president. Mrs. Kanney told me that Virgil had so many girls she couldn't keep track of the number anymore. Gee, and all those years I thought he was bashful. Well, my time is running short, I have to hurry on to John Mollencopfs. This looks like the place Virgil described. My how nice! Look at that cute little girl in the yard. I asked the little girl if her daddy was home. She said yes, but he was out in the field working. She said her momie was in the house though. Mrs. Mollencopf wanted to send little Barbie for John, but I told her I just didn't have time to wait. She said John owned this farm and that photography was his hobby, I told her I remembered what a kick John got out of taking pictures for our annual back in 52 . Well it's back to the Studer farm for me. I know none of you need to be told what happened to Sammy Gerhart. We all watch his television program. He's slowly taking the place of Milton Berle. Maybe Pm prejudiced but I think he's more efficient. Well Clem has his Ford back, none the worse for its little trip. The plane is repaired now. So bidding Clem good-by, I boarded the plane which is my job, feeling very happy that evertthing has turned out so well for my wonderful classmates.
