The oflicers of the association were: Kath- leen Ellis, presidentg Doretta Lynch, vice presidentg Lorraine Isensee, secretaryg and Pat Perry, recorder. A tumbling program was put on for the basketball game played here with Spring Valley on .January 21. As has been the custom for the past three years, a group of G A. A. girls attended the annual Spring Play Day at Preston May 17. Next September the Chatfield G. A. A. plans to be hostess at a Fall Play Day. Eight girls received awards this year. Those who received letters are Delores Tur- ner, Pat Perry, and Gerry Austin. Emblems will be awarded to .Marjorie Busher, Dora Skrukrud, Ruth Hitchcock, Doretta Lynch, and Beverly Ibach. 'V 'W' W 'W' N , . 1, .. . .,.. -mmm.--mm..-..-Immnm..-N-m-.-.----m-m-m- Under Coach Brown's leadership, baseball took many steps at CHS in becoming a leading sport. The season opened with an eight to six victory over Lanesboro, but Rushford came 'along next and we lost by a six to two decision. Great improvement was shown in the two following games which were victories for the Gophers. The scores for these were CHS 6, Lanesboro 5 and CHS 11, Rushford 6. The next two games proved to be the downfall as both games were lost. Wykofl' won by a 13 to 8 decision and Preston 10 to 9. This ended a successful season which had a 50-50 average. Kohlmeyer, Perry, Haven, Thorson, Fuchs CHEER LEADERS HO ECOMING Festivities for the third annual Homecoming on September 27 were much more elasorate than ever before. Gopher tags were again sold under sponsor- ship of the Pep Club. C. H. S. chose as its Home- coming queen, Irene Tuohy, a representative of the Sophomore class. Runners-up were Catherine Chase and Geraldine Austin. On the eve' of the Homecoming football game, there was a parade and snake dance down Main St. Each class in the junior and senior high school pre- sented a float in competition with each other. The ninth grade won the. prize. To put the finishing touches on all the festivities, Chatfield Scuttled Spring Grove , according to the Seniors' slogan.
