I Junior Class History ACK in '22 even though Freshies somewhat unruly and tiniid, we organized and obtained high scholarship and a good social stand- ing, due to the ability of our sponsors. XYe took in many of the school activities such as football, operetta, glee clubs and track. At the beginning of our social activities we enjoyed a hayrack party, and in February we had a Valentine party. At the close of the year we were all looking forward to our next year, when we would enter to show what we could do our second year. As Sophomores we had attained better views as to our duties and thus made high rank in all activities and two of our members received football letters. NYe entered our Junior year with plenty of pep, winning a half holiday which gave us more courage. Our junior boys stepped out on the football held with strong determination, and live were awarded Cs for their work. Our past three years have been years of toil and pleasure, but were successful. Not taking a critical point of view, nor speaking in a bold way, we hereby send forth our ultiniatuin and announce our deterinina- tion to endeavor to surpass our superior classnien. We have been in C. C. C. H. S. for almost a year. In the first Fresh1nan meeting we displayed our good judgment by electing the following ofihcers: Athol Sayre, president: Claude Freeman, vice- presidentg Marian Crocker, secretary: and Elizabeth Forney, treasurer. .X few weeks later a Freshman picnic was planned by the social com- mittee with Ralph Mailen as chairman. If the success of a picnic can be measured by pep, noise and appetites, the social committee should be credited with the greatest picnic on record. After the picnic there were two outstanding events in our young lives. First, the 'fChaseH contest which we entered with the usual Freshman ambition and came out with honors like the Seniors. Second, the Fresh- man chapel where we duly entertained the school with a one-act play Our Aunt From California in which Dorothy Frew starred. It is needless to say we are proud of our two football men, Gustin Howard and Claude Freeman, who won letters in their first football season. Yes, we have been here almost a year, and although we are still a little green, we have learned a few things. XN'e have been relieved of our coffee beans and have been informed of the sins of swiping thumb tacks to put in chairs. No, the l'rofl, hasn't paddled us yet! 'NW fx' X Vg The Optimist OR several years it has been customary fo1 the newspaper English lass of Chase County Community High School to publish a school paper entitled The Optimist The staff has worked very hard this year in order to make our Qptlmist the best possible Although some days are discouraging when news IS scarce and advertising is hard to get but nevertheless, we have stayed and worked hard and have come out fai in the lead and can tiuthfully say that we have enjoyed woiking on it The Chase ARLY last December the Seniors assembled for the purpose of mak- ing a start on that Senior heritage-the annual. Robert Coe was elected editor, Lois Mailen, associate editor and Francis Crawford was elected to see the advertisers and make all the money possible in order to finance the book. The remainder of the staff were chosen.to collect snaps'l, get their funny sides to functioning, and show by means of write-ups the activities of the various departments. The staff has worked hard and done all in their power to make this a faithful record of the achievements and all we hold dear in the year 1924-25. You, as a member of the student body, by your character and contribution to the school spirit have helped to make this book largely what it is. VVe appreciate the cooperation you have given us by your faith and enthusiasm as shown by your subscriptions. Special thanks are due to Miss Thoroman and Williana Seigle for their assistance. The proof's all read, the ink's all dry, the 1925 Chase is submitted for your approval.
