Approximately twenty students were admitted as chart¬ er members. After the new group established its present high standards and rigid requirements for applicants, today, thirty-five names are on the club roster. To become a member of the local chapter, a student must possess a high B average in scholastic standings and upon acceptance maintain a B average throughout his enrollment in the club. In addition to the scholas¬ tic achievements, a student must engross creditable records in charac¬ ter and leadership. As stated in the preamble of the local club’s constitution, the club believing in the rewarding of superior achievement in scholastic endea¬ vor, was created ‘‘to encourage and cultivate the proper leadership abi¬ lities in tomorrows good citizens. ” Mi V Club Left to Right, Front Row: Roland Byrd, Arthur Carter, Dale Wilson, Raymond Wood, Billy Driggs, Frazier Chapman, Raymond Toone. They were behind their team at all times, rooting for their victory. These girls showed deter¬ mination in a great many ways trying to keep the boys’ morales up. There were no sar¬ castic yells given even though they received a great many, but this was one thing the Cheer¬ leaders of ' 51 didn ' t “believe in’’. These Cheerleaders were a credit to their school and should be given a hearty “Thank you’’ for the splendid job they did.
